Played well tonight in a hostile environment.  He has at least one biggish mistake in him per game - usually in a dangerous area as well.  If he can stamp that out, he will be a decent backup to Onana for the rest of the season - and may even allow us to play him alongside Onana with Tielemans pushed forward.

Some of his defensive work is really good, getting tight to his man, reading the pass, not letting the opposition break on us.

The break where he stormed up field with the ball was fabulous. Not sure where the gap appeared from but I enjoyed it anyway.

For me he's turning into a really good back up for Kamara and probably deserves a shot in the team but having Onana back so we can manage him better will be a big help because, like most young players, he will make mistakes and have games where he struggles. I think he'll be a big player for us for the rest of the season if we don't go and find a new option to step in there, and I'd be ok with it, at some point we need to start truting some of the kids more than we have, which is about my only criticism of Emery.

I think he's good defending, very aggressive close marking. Makes mistakes like all young players.

Agreed. He needs to be careful with bookings though. Already booked 5 times this season and not made that many appearances.

I think that's just the nature of the role, sometimes our DM has to 'take one for the team'. He has 5 bookings in 17 appearances Kamara has 5 in 18.

His one last night being an absolute classic of the genre.

Late in the game, their attacker breaking into space forty yards out, clip his ankles to give them a free-kick and us time to regroup.

Yep, and if he hadn't had one you'd have been disappointed he failed to make the challenge.

Luckily we won't have any yellow card suspensions now. Cash and Lindy (and McGinn) were on two but even if they get booked next match, the suspension is removed before the R16 as well as all cards reset.
