I still wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat with Nyland "Nam" style flashbacks...

Goalkeeping mistakes costing games stay long in the memory more so than anything an outfield player does.

It always puzzles me how players who are obviously not mentally cut out to be goalkeepers get so high up in the game. The best treat any player entering the eighteen yard box as an affront, never make a mistake because it's always the defenders' fault, and cannot wait to throw down whenever it's necessary. Nyland...well, I don't think he could have commanded a telephone box.

Nyland was an unsung hero.
Regardless of whether the ball crossed the line or not in ‘that’ incident, he had the presence of mind, in that moment, to keep hold of the ball, keep tight to the post and wait for a decision, not make the decision for the ref.

Fair play to him for that.

Fallen upwards nicely since leaving us though with stints at Leipzig and now Sevilla, becoming first choice for Norway in the meantime.

The way his career is going he'll be lining out for Real Madrid next year.

The Tony Cascarino of goalkeepers.

I'm still haunted by the month in which Nyland let in every single shot on target. The 5-5 against Forest, the 4-2 against them down the road, and whichever other match I've actually managed to blank from memory. We literally might as well have played with eleven outfield players.

Nyland gets a pass from me for his epic display against Leicester which effectively got us to a cup final.

I'm repeating myself again but what summed up Nyland in a nutshell was a couple of minutes at Deepdale where he pulled off an outstanding save then dropped the ball from the resulting corner.

Almost as good as Steve Sidwells best performance for Villa being as ball boy in the 2009 3-0 victory over Hull City when he quickly threw the ball to Agbonlahor, who gave it to Milner, who scored our 2nd.

Sidwell was shit at everything else...

In Sidwell's defence he did score a screamer at Goodison in the 3-2 Ashley Young last minute game.
