Yes, the match didn't really live up to the atmosphere (we at least created), bit tight, nothing really significant happening and then Thomas broke through with about 15 mins left ish, i think.

We did have a better chance in 2000 in that we did make the final against a Chelsea team who were a bit better than us but not massively. We didn't turn up for that one at all, James dropped the ball, the only time i remember him doing it whilst with us, and that was it.

I am a bit too young to comment with authority on 1991-92 but the consensus is we should have won the FA Cup that season.

We queued for 4 hours for tickets to the quarter final at Anfield. We really had a good chance that day, maybe not quite as much so as the other night at Old Trafford but it was certainly a good chance to beat them on their own turf, but they won 1-0. The atmosphere was electric from our end and they had empty seats. I think we were the 2 best teams still in it from memory so yes, had we been better on the day we could well have gone on to win the trophy.

They played Portsmouth in the semi and Sunderland in the final. That was our year.

1990 stings more.  Yes, Oldham were flying. And yes they had the plastic pitch.  But they were still a second division mob.  Win that (or the replay) and we'd have had a Yanited side that finished 13in in the league that year. And Crystal Palace in the final.

Would have been a fitting reward for that side and a great send off for Sir Graham.

I watched that one in disbelief on Ceefax as the plastic pitch ****** put 3 past us.

The only game I missed home or away from Christmas, and only because we had a City Cup semi-final for the school at the Maypole.

We got gubbed 4-0 by Edmund Campion and then I had to go home and listen to that.

I love the FA Cup - but Saturday is a weird one.

I'm out so can't watch it. We have a good chance of winning (as a team 3rd in the Premier League should do) - but knowing our current FA Cup record and Emery's previous three cup matches I wouldn't be at all surprised if we lose. So I'm not re-arranging plans to watch the match and will hopefully be pleasantly surprised when a see the score.

:-)

I did go to the Blackburn 3rd round away game which i think was my first away match. 2-2.

I actually stopped playing football myself to go to some of the away matches.

The FA Cup is the holy grail for me, but can see Emery starting a weakened team and getting bombed out.

I don't want to lose, but I'd almost prefer it over a replay.

Are they playing man city?  I think you will find that we are considerably higher than 3rd, in fact 2 points clear of the team in 3rd position. :)

we went to this one , we left when their 3rd went in (about 65 mins ?) got back to the car to find we were blocked in and sat listening to the rest of the game on the radio. An utter shit-show of a night

Villa should go as strong as possible particularly as there's so few games this month. We did similar against Hibernian and blew them away in the first-half. We don't want another embarrassment like Stevenage!

At least it would have been warmer in the car. It was always fucking freezing at Oldham.
