1 minor quibble, it doesn't make for good TV either, it's just bad and really doesn't need to take as long as it does, the world cup showed exactly how it should work with offsides and they were taking about 30seconds. Even that isn't ideal but I reckon most people would be fine with it.

VAR has taken the spontaneity out of the game. The only time that you can cheer a goal is when the oppostion kick off again - sometimes 5 minutes later. It has not stopped controversy nor wrong decisions. A nice little earner for some.

This. I can't remember if it was the first or second goal but by the time VAR had checked it, I was more annoyed at the delay than happy that we'd scored. It's ruining the game. Even the players don't know whether to celebrate half the time.

Second goal was half heartedly celebrated on the pitch and in the stands. I thought Watkins looked off from where I was.

For the second goal, they didn't even bother announcing it or updating the scoreboard until after the VAR check. Usually they say who's scored and show the updated score on the screens, but that second goal felt about as exciting as waiting for your name to be called in a hospital waiting room.

I'd missed the second as we were getting a pint, but as soon as we saw the replay on the screen it was like 'what is there to check?', he looked miles onside.

Having said that the one they had ruled out was way closer than it looked at the time.
