Agree totally with The Edge, I thought it was a clear red I can't believe the story's been 'ooh harsh a bit maybe', it was a massive red card, rarely seen a redder.

And sure, maybe we got a bit lucky, like we'd run out of ideas etc but you know what? Liverpool recently went to deepest darkest London, found themselves 1-0 down and looking laboured and leggy before a stupid red card turned the game in their favour. If you're a big boy, or have ambitions to be one, you win that game; if you're also-ran, you at best draw. Such is life.

I can't work out, having just watched the incident again on the club site higlights, exactly why Unai got booked. He just seems to be trying to keep the peace, pulling his own players away from the fire

He's on the pitch, and he shouldn't be. Yes, he's trying to calm things down, but he's basically in the middle of it with, I think, a hand on an opposition player at one point.
He got booked for trying to control his players and next we'll be fined for NOT controlling them!

I still think a booking for what he's trying to do is harsh. He's trying to help manage a bad situation, as would be anyone's instinct in such a situation

Seemed to pass the media by that we could well be top of the league on Friday - and if the Arsenal game is a draw then on top for Christmas... only been mentioned on here.

Top of the form table - playing three poor teams over Christmas... the old Aston Villa would probably get 3 points!

Oh yes... COME ON YOU DRAW!...

We can potentially still go top even if Liverpool beat Arsenal - We just need to sink a cricket score against Sheffield Utd.

We'd need a winning margin of 5 greater than Liverpool to go ahead of them, on goals scored... Heh... Breath not exactly being held, although stranger things have happened

Absolutely delighted with the win as to me it looked like it was going to be one of those days where nothing clicked . Then Mee handed us the initiative - thanks dickhead. Still us against 10 men in the past hasn't always guaranteed anything so to get those 2 quick killer goals showed a superb resiliance . The closing stages starting with Baileys back-pass was full on Panto season and with a happy ending.

Regarding Mee, fair play to She - Ra for pinpointing the jump into it, should have his ban increased for that alone.

Entering the field of play without the ref's permission is a bookable offence.  I don't think it was a case of WHAT he did, but WHERE he did it.

which the referee should have done instead of standing around waiting for things to happen

The referee didn't help by letting a lot of fouls go, but I think at some point, the players have to take responsibility for their behaviour. They're not kids.

One point i've not seen mentioned is the build up to their goal.
They take a quick free kick, which leads to the deflected shot, which leads to the corner which they score from.
I know they are separate phases of play, but we should be stopping a quick free kick by standing in front of the ball, i think it was Diaby who was closest and wasn't switched on enough to do it.
Players should just think what would Ashley Young do?
Anyway i'm sure it will be picked up by Emery and his team during post game analysis.

Anyone else notice how pussed off SJM was with Kamara when the ref showed the red?

Yep, I mentioned it in the Kamara thread, he went ballistic. Top captain behaviour, trying to maintain the required standards. He’s grown up a lot.

I know were going to miss Kamara but I honestly think the end of the game is one of those that's only going to galvanise us in the long run.

Although that is also now pretty much an automatic booking. Plus the freekick was 10 yards ahead of where the foul was so the ref let us down then by not ordering the retake.
