So am I correct in thinking that they are investing in V Sports & not Villa specifically?

Yes. Villa's obviously by far the biggest company in the group though.

They might be looking at something like the next MLS expansion, who knows.

That MLS expansion thing is probably a good shout Risso. Lots of Capital required to buy the franchise and build a stadium if it is going to be in Vegas.

Sounds like a funding round, giving a few shares in V Sports (excluding anything Villa) to a VC company in exchange for a bit of cash.

It's not excluding anything Villa, though. V Sports owns Villa, and Atairos now owns a slice of V Sports.

Easiest way to describe what's happening here is that we have new co-owners. I think!

Vegas didn't get the last franchise, so must surely be a fair way off.

I suspect this is more about funding to expand the group and expertise to further push things on the commercial side.

The funding, sure, the expertise, no. That's not usually what PE firms do.

That's precisely what PE firms do.

In the scale of things, for an investment firm like this, is $6.5 billion a lot?

They are a relatively new investment firm.  A quick look at their website tells us they also partner Comcast, NBC Universal and Sky which to me, at least, suggests they have funds/gravitas on a large scale.

Seem to have a base in Philadelphia, wonder if they were introduced by Heck (Chris, not the expensive sausage manufaturers, obvs)

No turning back.

Sadly, for me (and now, it transpires, you) I don't post a lot these days. I'll try a bit harder.

Wasn’t obvious to me Paulie. Thanks for the clarification.

If you're struggling for time maybe consider quitting your nine-to-five.
