50% in a ballot is nonsense.

Only to those who don't want it

I’m in the band of people who is a season ticket holder but has no significant away history. Even I can’t agree with 50% off tickets going to ballot. If you’ve got the history, you must be rewarded with priority.

No problem with that.
The club have to make it easier for people to return tickets until as near as possible to the game so that when people can’t go, they can return them instead of pass them on. Then everyone’s history is their legitimate history.

The current policy is the fairest, they just need to add ID. The club already have it anyway.

Ballot idea at 50% is bunkum. How does that work? How does that changes the age profile of our away fans? How does that ensures “winners” are freshies?

Ballot to all ST holders. Break up the unhealthy stranglehold on away tickets . Ballot would mix things up nicely, allow fresh faces to attend every now and then. Of course those in the away club will try and debunk the idea of more open fairness why wouldn't they . And anyone caught selling tickets on / ringfencing should have their history wiped .

I think the policy is fair too. I do think that those that go to most games should get the first refusal on tickets. I’d maybe put a small proportion as more random, but it’d be 5% & no more.

I’m a hypocrite because I’ll take those ‘passed on’ tickets because it’s the only way of going most of the time, and actually keep myself out of the loop by doing so, but we can’t pretend it’s not happening when there’s a thread on this very message board that does just that. I believe there’s a small group of people who go to every single game, and a large group who go to about 90-95% but have a booking history for every game.

I don’t know how anyone will ever get round that because if you are going to the match with someone, and one of you can’t go, it’s human nature to pass it on to someone you know, not least so that you still go with someone you know!

Even for someone locked out of the current system for the vast majority of games, if I’m honest I’d probably rather take a ‘passed on’ ticket which will probably be with someone I know, than a single returned ticket and go on my own!

I only really have a problem with people who, even for the odd game, never had any intention of going, but buy tickets just to keep up their booking history. They do exist.

Got speaking to someone over Christmas. He’s been in the away scheme since it was introduced so is always guaranteed an away ticket. Due to his circumstances changing though he rarely goes away and sells his ticket to his mate just to keep his history should it be required. I’ve no idea how many others do this but it’s certainly part of the problem.

I genuinely want to know where all these fans that complain about the closed shop when we were in the championship?  it's a closed shop because the fans that go away now were the ones that went in the championship.  I remember Burton away who have a smaller away end than Luton but I never had a problem getting a ticket despite being in the 2nd criteria but now I'm in the same criteria won't get one for Luton.  Those that are upset about not getting tickets for Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal etc... really should have thought about that when they turned their noses up at Burton, Barnsley, Rotherham etc...
