Lovely. Watched the game by the pool in Alghero.  After a superb little 46 miler on the bike from Stintino.  Nice.

Rode our luck at times, and the red card came just at a time when they were on top, but the mark of a contender is putting away the midtable riff-raff even when you're not at your best.

midtable ? 30 points from your last 35 games is hardly midtable.

Yeah but I think they have enough to scrape together some points over Christmas.

They'll need to. Their next 8 PL games are Fulham and Burnley away, then Arsenal and Brentford at home, followed by Spurs (A), Citeh (H), Newcastle (A) and Brighton (H).  Don't see a lot there for them if they don't get their act together pronto.

I can see them getting 4-8 points from that.

Chelsea haven't scored in 3 games, and only have 5 all season. Everton and Sheffield Utd have as many goals as them.

Nicolas Jackson looks further away from being a premier league regular than Duran for me, going into the season with him as their main forward was a huge mistake, unlucky to lose Nkunku but really poor to do nothing about it. It gets worse now he's banned, Imagine spending £1bn in 14months and ending up with Broja as your only available striker.

Understandably looked a bit nervous at the start but settled into the game. Zaniola very bright early on. McGinn constantly dispossessed by Gallagher. Luiz, Kamara and  Konsa were at their best. And great for Watkins to get off the mark in the league. Referee performance was an absolute shambles.

I said before the game that I would take a win, and a win it is.

Fack the fackers!

Deserved it. Ref was useless. Kamara back to his old self. Wish he would release the ball quicker sometimes though. Great to have Jacob back in the fray. They all played their part today and Watkins getting the winning goal is crucial for his confidence.
That ref's performance was odd. At the end of the first half they put up 3 minutes of extra time. During that 3 minutes Luca Digne got injured in a clash and had to be treated for a blood injury so I was expecting the 3 minutes to turn into 5 or 6. He actually played 1 minute 45 seconds then blew the whistle. This isn't sour grapes as it worked in our favour as Chelsea were on top. But wtaf?

So it’s your fault, just be careful next time as it could have easily been more than just a straight forward win.

It was wrong but I suspect what happened is that tempers were a bit frayed after Digne got booked for putting his face in the way of Sterlings elbow and he decided it was easier to blow up, deal with some complaints as the players went off and then come back once things had calmed down a bit. If that's right I can't hold it against him, it's the sort of sensible decision making I'd like to see more of.
