The premier league should be our priority, but I suspect we’ll go with a decent team for this… tricky though

I reckon 1-1
i think he will go strong and make lots of changes on 60 mins etc.
This season is all about making full use of the squad

Realistically what's the best we can achieve this season in the Prem? I think Champions League is still a bit of a stretch (unless that 5th spot comes in), so comfortably getting Europa League would be a realistic and progressive achievement. We can also qualify for that by winning the Conference, or a domestic cup, so taking all of that into consideration.... I'm not sure prioritising one competition is necessary. More that we should have a goal of being in Europe again next season, preferably in the next competition up, and approach everything with that in mind.

It's an interesting one...  Would you rather win the conference league or make it into the CL.  It almost certainly won't be binary like that anyway and I hope we give both a really good go this season.

Yeah, obviously if we knew in advance we were going to be knocked out in the group stages then we could say now F it, let's prioritise the league, but I think as long as we're in any competition we should just be treating them all with the same importance. Maybe come Jan if we're still in Europe and competing at the top of the table, we could look at the domestic cups and talk about priorities then, but this early into things I don't think we need to be writing anything off.

Obviously players need rest, but that doesn't have to mean sending out a "second string" side.

I would rather win a trophy than finish 4th. I know the reality for clubs is the land of milk and honey in the CL, but it's been far too long without silverware for my liking.

I agree, although I don't see why we can't do both.

We could finish 4th and get Champions League but still be sat here in 5 years time having won nothing. Spurs mostly had Champions League for the last decade, and what do they have to show for it, other than a shiny new stadium. So I'm of the same way of thinking. I'd rather win something this year, than "just" have Champions League next year.

I'd rather win a trophy too. It's been so, so long now. We've been close on a few occasions in recent years but only we remember that. I'd love to see us winning cups again.

I'd start Duran in this one, he's full of confidence at the moment, whereas Watkins is not.

I'd rather win a trophy but I think it's undeniable that getting into the champions league for a few seasons in a row would make it much easier for us to win something. Money is so important in modern football that until you're talking semi-final stages the league does have to take precedence.

That said I think the idea of playing the full strength best XI in the league and weaker sides in the cups is flawed. What we really want is a core of 18-20 players who make up the backbone of the team and play in different combinations, etc. That how teams like Man City approach things (other than the early league cup games) where instead of wholesale changes the team alters by a few players game-to-game so everyone gets regular rests and regular gametime.

Also, I'd rather win this trophy in particular than finish 4th and potless.

I like the idea of having won two European trophies rather than just the one.

Or, Watkins needs a boost of confidence and this might help him if he can grab a goal. But certainly, I don’t think anyone would be annoyed to see Duran start. Other than Ollie that is.

Same here, win the Conference League and finish 5th will do for me.

Getting Champions League doesn't just give you financial reward. It helps you to attract players that you otherwise couldn't get.
