My grandmother suffered dementia, and difficulty accessing care was a big strain on my mother. When some care was eventually accessed it was a big help.
If memory serves me correctly it was Jeff Astle's case that bought it to the forefront. In his and my time the leather footballs we played with were very heavy in the wet and like granite when the frost was around. It is a very big issue in the AFL over here, tragic to see the damage it does.
I think Chris Jameson (late of this parish) did used to volunteer / organise for a similar charity with sportsmen and dementia
