Every time we got the ball they were on us like a shot and we Xiang seem to cope with that level of intensity.  Looking forward to seeing what Unai does about this

Thanks to everybody who sent me pms. Although my now deleted message was not actually a request but a cunningly crafted sentence which showed people where they could find one. ;-)

Ha! Thought it was pretty clear!

This was always going to be a good indicator of where we are, and unfortunately it's miles behind.

Yep. Newcastle, we were in the game, we got overwhelmed but hey, could've gone in a few directions, strange game. Today's more of a test.

And we're not just losing. We're being funeralled.

For the chance I just think Ollie was expecting Bailey to reach it first so simply wasn't set to strike it properly. It happens. Was another fantastic cross from Digne.

McGinn was the bigger miss, have to be getting it on target at least.

I'd definitely put that one down as a miss for Bailey rather than Watkins, as soon as Bailey went for it it became a really tough chance for Watkins.

Yup. Bailey fluffed it. Watkins was never going to get a shot off even if Bailey had left it for him.

Not sure about the decision to bring on Bailey tbh, we look outnumbered in the middle of the park and we need all the cover we can get. Bailey does not offer cover, or much else really

I think Bailey's been o.k compared to his usual standard on the road. Had nice link up with Diaby for one of the chances and he's settled back quickly into shape when out of possession.

Logical move would've been to put Tielemans on but Unai obviously dosen't trust him to play more than 45 minutes v serious opposition yet.

Think Zaniolo will be on soon enough. Need to get him and Diaby drifting infront of their back 4 and see if we can cause them issues that way as if we get a goal back you never know.

This game has come too early in the season for us. The players and the new players haven’t settled in together yet. We still look a threat on the attack but are very vulnerable at the back. As good as he can be offensively, Digne has never been the best defensively and he doesn’t have Mings behind him to cover that - Torres can’t perform that role and Moreno will be the same position when he comes back. So we’re going to have to have a rethink about the set up for these bigger games because the left side of defence is really vulnerable without Mings.

Worry about Carlos. I hope he’s not another one we can’t rely on to stay fit.

Liverpool didn’t seem to have any problems with their new players

Diaby is our one shining light

Luiz and Konsa have been very good too. Cash and Digne have been ok. Kamara and Watkins anonymous, McGinn lost on left, not challenging TAA not giving Digne any support with Salah. Was a crazy sub by Emery and has unbalanced us horribly. Torres, worst individual performance I've seen from a Villa player in some time. Warning signs there in previous two games for me.

Might aswell hook Kamara on a yellow and get the Donk on for him. I'd also hook Watkins and get a good look at Duran. Chambers is horrid at LCB when played there previously, Lenglet just in the door and would be destroyed in that high line. One of them will have to come in for Torres though. Tactically I'm not sure what changes we can do with both Diaby and Bailey now on pitch. I guess 433 and try get at their full backs.
