The Duran goal was excellent. Anticipated the pass, bullied his way between two meaty defenders and put it away.

I don’t care that it is Hibs, he’s only a young lad.

Considering the score before it started, it wasn't a bad game and we won comfortably, but it was difficult to make any real judgment.
However, their fans did a great support job tonight as they barely stopped all game, and it was only our fans leaving early!

A lot of the narrative is about the financial discrepancy between the teams but we never get that as an excuse when we play city do we? I notice the Scottish teams have lost to the Dutch, Swedish and Greeks - what’s the excuse against them I wonder?

Good run and pass but no way their keeper should have gone walkabout like that. How did Duran do in general? Alan McNally suggesting that a lot more still in Tielemans post game.

Had the feel of a bit of a non-event about it tonight and that was reflected on the pitch in periods.  Thought when we upped the pace they couldn't contain us.  Don't want to appear too mean spirited, but I thought Olsen had his obligatory lapses and the two young lads (understandably) didn't look at the level of the others.  It was a shame Zaniolo couldn't play, as it would have been good to see him get some time.  Hibs were desperately poor again and as the bloke in front of me said "How bad must have that Swiss team been in the round before to lose to these".

All in all though, great to be back at Villa Park on a European night, though it did feel a bit weird on a Thursday night (heard some Hibs fans chanting outside before the fans "Watching Hibs on a Thursday night, Johnson's gone cos he's f@cking sh£te" which I thought was quite good).

8-0 is our record European aggregate score I think beating the 7-0 against Valur in 1981.

I said to my Son, he's going to be worth 10 goals a season with his passing.

Purely from an off the field perspective, I thought the Hibs fans were magnificent, one of the best away followings I’ve ever seen at VP.

As for ours, well, the mass exodus on 30 minutes continues, regardless of what happens on the pitch. The guy behind us said ‘28 minutes, time for a beer”. The couple in front went on 35, came back sometime in the second half and went on 75.

If we want to make VP a fortress, we’ve got a long way to go, and I don’t mean the ones trying to sing, I’m more concerned with the thousands disappearing because the need for a drink outweighs whatever is happening in the pitch.

On the pitch, Unai just continues to get it all so right. Can’t wait for the draw tomorrow.

How magnanimous of you.

He did OK.  Took his goal well and held the ball up well a few times, but wasn't too involved for periods of the game.  Tielemans was playing in a bit of a more advanced role in the first half tonight and it didn't really suit him

Always found this odd, but it's the British mentality.

I was looking at the top scoring /assisting players this season in the team and the BBC had this stat for Torres

Pau Torres
Assists 1
Matches Played   5
Total Passes 333
Completed passes 306
Incomplete passes 27
Accuracy 92%

I dunno, we were 8-0 against effective League 2 levels of opposition. You need a bit of jeopardy or failing that a dash of spice or needle; the token Nose added a smidge, but beyond that it was the strolliest of strolls we might ever come across.

Hibs fans were pretty silent for most of the 2nd half, until the last 5 or 10 when they did a very nice rendition of Sunshine on Leith and got very excited at the prospect of £2 cans of Red Stripe in non-sticky floor Snobs.

I like the look of Duran, a right unit already at 19, same as Kellyman. It's hard to read much into a side you feel like your five a side lot wouldn't necessarily look out of place having a go at. So much time and space. They had a little go mind, tried to lay a glove (which was more than last Wednesday's canter) but only seemed to get close enough to hack one of us down.

Looking forward to the draw tomorrow; 8-0 doesn't get anymore professional than that. 9 would be hubris.
