Gstk irks me a lot, as does any Villa flag with the Rangers badge on it.

The AFA and right-wing element at Villa lasted about five minutes.

If English people in England (Liverpool fans) get wound up by hearing other English people singing the English national anthem, i'm all for it. Love watching people getting triggered by such nonsense.
If Scottish or Irish people living in England do the same, then that's up to them.
Life's too short to be getting wound up by this stuff.

Yes i know all the history, and the scousers history, but it's still an easy wind up, and i don't know why people allow themselves to be riled by it.

I was going to say Dave, I was a teenager at the time and was going every week and I was blissfully unaware of such things. You're probably looking at a group of a dozen people or so on either side.

Makes me laugh when people go about stuff like this years later and make it sound like the Gangs of New York.

Most ‘bantz’ whether related to football or not is fucking moronic, but it makes those participating morons, not fascists. Most of the time.

I don't like us singing the national anthem and I think it makes us look like dicks but I appreciate this is a personal opinion. I won't be joining in at Anfield for sure.
Just banter and it should be sung at Anfield in a couple of weeks too.

It was cringeworthy last season - and the same people were singing “always the victims….” To Liverpool fans. They may well think it was a bit of “banter” but it’s neither original or funny, just a bit embarrassing.

Exactly. "It's funny because it winds them up" could be the justification for all sorts of unpleasant shite. E.g. always the victims

What a bunch of absolute fannies… 😂

#SlaveMentality #RoyalRadges
#VillaForelockTuggers

Is there such hand wringing when the Rugby wankers sing it every year up there?  Facism indeed. They will sing Flower of Scotland or other such dirge down here and most will recognise it as the attempted wind up it is.

Some Celtic fan there trying to claim we're historically fascist, this the same club that were chucking bananas and much more at Mark Walters?
of course we are that's why we have the like of Paul McGrath and Peter McParland played for us and why we were followed by so many Paddy's from the Aston, Erdington and Perry Barr district and their children follow suit, let me at him hold me back, hold me coat

As a 2nd gen paddy from Erdington it irks me as well. Stench of nose bullshit is very strong here.
you mean me?

There was one particular fat lad in their end to the left getting very animated at GSTK. Looked like Mr Creosote was going to explode. Job jobbed really- isn't that the point of most of the ditties? Either Achey Breaky Heart to one player, European dance music for the club or some jibe/quip about the opposition's nearest and dearest.

Weird that people would be triggered by a song, but if you're of such delicate sensibilities to film fans of a club who aren't playing your team, in a different city and then cry all over Twitter for reach arounds from Kopites, then it probably says more about you.

I don’t think the gap between leagues is that stark, Celtic would not get ripped apart by Everton or Sheffield United. (e.g.) Over two legs Burnley needed added time to get past Aberdeen a few years ago.

But the gap between the Glasgow teams and the rest of the Scottish premier league is wider than ever before. I mean! Brendon Rodgers left for Leicester, with Celtic on the brink of doing an (utterly ludicrous) treble treble.

The gulf we saw tonight is basically two gulfs, the top seven of the premier league and the rest, and the gulf between the top two of the Scottish premier league and the rest.
Agree totally with this. The Premier League has ended up creating a gulf between the two countries where the best Scottish teams have roughly the same budget/pulling power as a biggish Championship team, and the gulf between even mid table Premier League teams and those on the Championship is huge - remember how it felt like we couldn't possibly compete with the wages Bournemouth were offering FFS. But the Old Firm haven't helped that and have ended up creating a similar gulf between themselves & the rest of the SPL.

Real shame that there's clearly such a huge gulf in quality though. I don't think it's healthy for football at a whole

It's not the Premier League that's created the gulf, it's Rangers and Celtic. They utterly screwed the depth and quality of the Scottish game, then got all indignant when the world's broadcasters and billionaires didn't want to pay the same for a four-game season. It's why I get riled by people claiming one or other of them is better/less bad. Odious to the core and as anti-football as you can get. Anyone surprised that Hibs (at worst the fifth biggest club in what was a proper football country) are about League 1/2 standard hasn't been paying attention to the lower end of the pools coupon for the last 35 years.

Predictable Old Firm rant over, yesterday was weird. I reckon the 96 League Cup final was the last time I've felt so horizontal watching the Villa. It really was first gear all the way.

There's always some little part of the day that makes you chuckle. The prison van going past with the occupants banging on the inside, while being serenaded with going down, is probably that memory from yesterday afternoon.
