It will be interesting how we play the high line as I think Newcastle will try and use the pace of Barnes to try and beat it.

They will definitely target Matty Cash with quick cross field passes to try and get Barnes in behind him. Something I hope Cash has worked on improving over the summer, brutal at losing the flight of those kind of balls. Should be a cracking game. First game of the season and I wouldnt be surprised to see us sit in and take them on the counter.

Reading their forum there seems to have been an outbreak of realism and respect for us.

That pasting we gave them at Villa Park had a serious effect on them.

Can't see it being anything but the starting line up from last weekend to be honest, with the only real question being whether Bailey starts out wide.  J Ramsey missing means that we can't really play the narrow 4 across midfield which worked so well against them at our place last season, as there isn't really anyone who can play that role in the same way.

a good game to start the season with instead of the usual promoted club away....

2-1 to the Villa a tough game for sure.

They'll be doing alot of fouling, that's a certainty.

Bruno Guimarães is beyond dirty, with his massive Grealish esque look at me celebrations. I hate him.

I think they'll beat us and it'll be very annoying to lose. Barnes to score.

But then again with Unai in charge, you really never know.

Talking of opening days, Spurs fans are reliving those halcyon days when they could beat us;

As well as Buendía, Emery confirms that Leander Dendoncker, Álex Moreno, Jacob Ramsey, Bertrand Traoré, Jhon Durán and Tim Iroegbunam are all unavailable to face Newcastle United on Saturday.

Newcastle have a couple of injuries themselves, although I'm not sure how significant any of them are. Wilock is still out from last season, and Schar is apparently a doubt too.

Apparently they don't a defensive midfielder fit, Buendia will take full advantage and expose them again. Shit.

Tielemans can thread a pass through the eye of a needle. He was superb in pre season. A great chance for him to get forward and spray passes around. Also Diaby is lightning quick so we should be ok.

Interesting that he didn't mention Diego Carlos as he's not been in the recent squads.

Thats a substantial injury list.  Some wonderful players right there.

The Guardian appear to think that the biggest talking point ahead of our game is Nick Pope's treatment and recovery from a broken finger.

Jesus fucking Christ.
