Charlton only started one outfield player who had played on Saturday, and it was essentially a reserve line up, so I would have been hoping for a bit more. I know this competition isn't the main barometer for measuring youth and academy, and we do have a few out on loan, but I am not sure if we have a top supply chain at the moment.

None of the others have even appeared as a sub.Something seems to be going wrong between that early stage and making it it to the first team. In recent years only Grealish and JJ have managed that. Both exceptional talents, but you would hope for more.
Neither Philogene nor Archer were in that team, only Aaron Ramsey. I think my disappointment though is more that we all love seeing our own kids making it into the first team. I agree £35m is a lot of money but I wonder if we couldn't take more risks sometimes. I thought how promising Kellyman looked in pre season for example, but now he isn't even on the bench. I do hope I'm wrong.
