Ealing very unlucky to be sent off, in my view.

Have a spare ticket for Charlton tonight if anyone wants it. Don't need anything for it. PM me

Better this half, although Charlton seem to have declared at 4-0.

Charlton only started one outfield player who had played on Saturday, and it was essentially a reserve line up, so I would have been hoping for a bit more.

I know this competition isn't the main barometer for measuring youth and academy, and we do have a few out on loan, but I am not sure if we have a top supply chain at the moment.

Yes, it is a sobering thought that from the hugely promising team that won the Youth Cup only Chukwuemeka has ever made a league start for us. None of the others have even appeared as a sub.
Something seems to be going wrong between that early stage and making it it to the first team. In recent years only Grealish and JJ have managed that. Both exceptional talents, but you would hope for more.

Sobering? From one single youth team we've brought in £35m in transfer fees so far, and have a handful of others on loan in the Championship and across the leagues.   Of those who are still with the club, if they don't make it, and end up being sold, I'd be amazed if they don't generate a total of £50m.  And that's from a SINGLE youth team.  That's pretty incredible.

Sure, it would be great to have some of them starring in the first team, but if they're not quite good enough for where we are today, or if they want to move on themselves, then so be it. If each youth team that plays in the FA Youth Cup generated enough revenue when sold to buy a Diaby each season (as this one did), then I for one will be delighted!

Neither Philogene nor Archer were in that team, only Aaron Ramsey. I think my disappointment though is more that we all love seeing our own kids making it into the first team. I agree £35m is a lot of money but I wonder if we couldn't take more risks sometimes. I thought how promising Kellyman looked in pre season for example, but now he isn't even on the bench. I do hope I'm wrong.

I'd imagine most youth cup winning sides rarely see one or more make it into their first team to any notable degree.

Ramsey and Chukwuemeka.  The £35m doesn't include Archer and Philogene who were the year above, and too old for the FA Youth Cup winning side.  Include them and we've paid for Diaby already.

Kellyman only turned 18 a couple of weeks ago, I'm not even remotely concerned by his lack of appearances to date.  I'd expect him to have a loan either later this season, or next, before we start seeing him more regularly in our first team.  At the end of NEXT season he'll still only be 19.
