Extensive highlights.

Pretty sure Statto from Fantasy Football League is the commentator. My favourite away game ever.

People fawn over that kit whereas for me, the combination of those stripes and that shade of claret made it look like we played in purple

A 100% win record for Barron, a managerial record that current fraud Emery could only dream about! ;)

Remember as an 11 year old (and best mates with a Spurs fan at that time) listening to this on the radio, and collapsing with my head in my hands when they got it back to 3-3.

Oh how I celebrated Deano's winner

I think it's the worst home kit in my time watching us. Purple and dark blue, all wrong and the sponsor was dreadful.

Guess it's just popular, as we were fairly successful then.

Indeed, glad I am not alone! For me our worst was the 2001-02 purple diadora one but this is one I really didn't like. We had some good days obviously in it but we also came close to relegation in it the following season!

Pretty much the same here, I was 13 and my best mate was (still is) a Spurs fan. We listened in on the wireless and nearly came to blows when Deano scored the winner. God I loved football back then.

Wtf was the camera-operator doing for Fenton's second goal and our third?

Also, sacrilige but McGrath kinda fucked-up for their equaliser.

And the camera must have cut to Gerry Francis twenty times but never once to the Villa bench. Ok, Ron Bojangles Atkinson was no longer there, but c'mon, a bit of parity please.

Great day out that was. If my memory serves me right, that night was the first ever National lottery draw, although I may be wrong.

The shit things you remember when you have forgotten all the important stuff…

No, you are quite right. Blur wrote a song about it, "It Could Be You", released the following year.

It was. I'd bought a special pen with 49 balls in the top. You shook it and the balls went into the top of the barrel to give you your numbers. I was more surprised than I possibly should have been when it didn't win.

On a tangent but I remember the night before the 1996 league cup final when Andy Townsend released the balls and made the national lottery draw live on telly. We were sitting in a pub in London watching it before going out on a pre-final session.
