So Both Barrenechea and Nedelkovic are still ours then? I thought we sold them.

Yeah that's good... All I had was the Modern Romance classic: "Bye, Bye, Bye, Bye Monchi".

I hope we haven't but I fear you're right.

Barrenechea is on loan at Benfica but they unfortunately have an obligation to buy. Let's just say Benfica are delighted.

I'm sure they are, the question really is whether he'd cut it here and get into our team. I'm not sure he would.

If only we had a way to find out.

I'm saying the former Juventus and Valencia midfielder, called up Argentina and currently starring for Benfica would have cut it against Brentford in the League Cup and Sunderland away.

I'm not sure "former Juventus midfielder" is necessarily a sign of quality if someone plays a handful of games for them. Adama Traore is a former Barcelona player but few Villa fans are pining for his return. I don't think central midfield is the area we are struggling with this season, and it will be even less of a priority when Onana and Tielemans are back.

My main issue with loaning him to Benfica is that I'm not sure they have the ability to give us a shit-tonne of cash to enable us to re-invest in areas of greater need, such as literally all the attacking positions.

With Onana and Kamara already suffering from injuries this season, Barrenechea would - I'm sure - already got gametime and probably shown us some of his potential.

He's been booked in 5 of their first 6 league games. In games they are totally dominating, I'm not so sure he'd cope with the pace premier league games move at.

What are you basing that on? You may be right but like someone else has already said, it would have been nice to find out. He's not a young kid, he's 24.
