Think it’s hard to argue with the sacking. There’s been 5 transfer windows where we’ve been in Europe, known these sanctions were coming, and not sorted it out in advance. Then this summer has been an absolute shambles (quite possibly before, since it looked like Martinez had been upset a couple of games before the end of the season).

As someone else pointed out, Monchi has been a clear downgrade on Lange, who had a far better hit rate (tho even that wasn’t exceptional).

Don’t care whether it’s with Emery’s blessing or without. He hasn’t done the job he’s here to do, and I suspect our sluggish start is a direct result of this summer which is his domain.

Yes algy, the issue is with how poor he turned out to be. I don't he he went because of issues with the club and therefore could have a knock on effect with Emery.  We shall see, he may have left for personal reasons....awaiting club announcement.

interesting that 9 of the guys that started on the weekend were Smith or Gerrard signings.

Points to underwhelming recruitment.

Hardly any players in the first team, and deep in the shit with SCR/PSR. That's failure.

Someone had to pay for not being able to use a spreadsheet.
There is no way that a professional football club should have got itself into the situation of this summer. The fact that it was a culmination of poor and non budgeted decisions is ridiculous.
Over spending and being left with a team capable of challenging is one thing but overspending and having to field a team made up of players before the over spending began is a dereliction of responsibility.
Someone had to go , it was Monchi, good riddance.

Beautifully  put mate. Agree with every word of that

Exactly. We are in the shit and as many are aware i held him responsible  for that. Looks like the elites at our club agree and he is gone. Its right decision.

Ill thank him foe his efforts, he helped get us to to CL. But looking where we are now he has failed in my opinion and needed to be sacked. This summer window was a disaster  and he was largely  responsible  for that.

Will be interested  to see if we see a improved  performance  vs bologna after this is confirned. This will tell us everything if so

I posted in the transfer thread I’d bet anything that either him or Unai wouldn’t stay past this season.
Didn’t take quite as long as I expected

Had you heard rumours that they weren’t getting on?  I kinda hope they weren’t, as you’d then assume Emery condones/instigated the move.

Hard to be too upset as his record is patchy at best and signing Malen then Rashford/Asensio a week later was negligent.

Who is Bournemouth’s head scout, can we recruit him?

I worry about this. Still we have no real idea whether this is done against Unai's wishes or with his full support. The former would have been unthinkable even a few weeks ago but who knows.

Let's hope he takes the departure of a 'mate' from the club rather better than the players did.

Jacob Ramsey with a wry smile pulling out his best whisky out of the cabinet tonight.

Jacob Ramsey dials 999 after dropping the bottle on his foot.

For all the squad upset over that move, with his injury record it was too much money to turn down, and not one i would hold Monchi to the fire for.

^^^ same.

I liked Ramsey but you’re going back a few seasons to find international form.  Bailey has more recent form and he’s been given the ‘I’ll drive him there myself’ exit.  The local lad bit does carry weight tough I suppose.

Monchi needs to go tomorrow night at 7.01pm.

Agreed

Can’t post exactly everything cause it would expose a couple of relationships I value.

Monchi and his “recruitment” plan was totally dependent on freeing up cash (from sales and wages) to then act

Things happened far far slower than expected. They expected emi and Bailey to be gone by early July!

Since then they’ve scrambled around to try and act still. Which in turn resulted in JJ.

JJ did not want to leave. He was basically forced out by Monchi.

A number of the squad have been pissed about it

Frankly, I don’t want the bloke anywhere near us moving forwards. I’ll take a wager with anyone right now. Either him or Unai won’t be at Villa this time next year

Vinnie - In your opinion do you think Emery and Monchi had fallen out?

…and therefore we can safely speculate that this was done with Emery’s blessing?

In my own opinion (based on a few bits) this will not have happened without emerys nod

Also think monchi aint that bothered by it and also feels time is right

It wont be knee jerk to us starting season crap, its been on cards for a while and how certain things have been handled.

If i was speculating why now, down to current players. Too many directly pissed off with him from how he tried (and in some cases succesfully) to get people of the door this summer

Thank fuck for that - something big had to change - and this change wouldn't have happened without Emery giving the nod.

As much as I support the decision, the players are becoming like Leicester's post title win.  Except without the titles.

So, player power then ?

That’s a very dangerous road to be on.
