The only reason it could possibly be bad news is if that Unai was against it. Otherwise, it's great news.

Someone had to pay for not being able to use a spreadsheet.
There is no way that a professional football club should have got itself into the situation of this summer. The fact that it was a culmination of poor and non budgeted decisions is ridiculous.
Over spending and being left with a team capable of challenging is one thing but overspending and having to field a team made up of players before the over spending began is a dereliction of responsibility.
Someone had to go , it was Monchi, good riddance.

Agree 100%. But Monchi should have gone before the recent transfer window not after. If its put a bit of pressure on Emery I don't think it's a bad thing for the club either.

Whoever they employ it’s a tough job for recruiting players now we’re in this mess. I guess we’ll find out soon which players have been purchased Emery isn’t happy with come January.

Regardless of whether the recruitment has been any good, that’s going to be open to debate as so many don’t get played or the majority farmed out, where it’s really gone wrong in my mind is the whole man management of it all. I have no doubt at all we’ve created this monster we’re seeing on the pitch.

Once Videgamy didn't name check Monchi at the end of the summer you knew he was done.

The club has to put in a strategic plan to lower the age of the squad and the wage bill, while getting more pace and athletic ability into the squad. Next appointment is vital.

You just have to hope Unai is on board with it. If he isn’t it’s only going one way.

But regardless of this, Unai has to think about what he and his coaching staff are going to do differently. Continually trying to do the same thing on the pitch and it evidently not working, or manifesting as it is intended to, is a coaching issue.

Guardian headline has this as 'a blow to Emery'. Really? That seems a little previous.

I posted in the transfer thread I’d bet anything that either him or Unai wouldn’t stay past this season.
Didn’t take quite as long as I expected

Shit at his job and rightly gone.

He has missed out on some obvious targets and hos recruitment made no sense.

If it does turn out to be that, this is going one way.

Only Villa could spend £250m (or whatever) on new players only to find themselves with no trophies, none of the players they bought and fielding a team they could have done four years ago.

It was a fun couple of seasons though. Now just have to wait 25 years for it to come round again 😔

Only we could go from being on the verge of the FA Cup, Champions League and top 4 to an existential crisis inside 5 months.
