It's going to be interesting to see how this pans out. Let's hope it's for the best and things don't start to unravel.

Yes I’m a little concerned about the latter, but perhaps this might be positive. Whatever has gone on this summer into this season has been desperately poor.

Given the circumstances of our summer financial challenges it’s very possible the way he went about the exit strategy of certain players rubbed people the wrong way. But also I will always content he didn’t operate in a vacuum. He did things with the owners and Emery’s knowledge but incoming and outgoing. Is that Barcelona bloke still around?

Hope this means genuine change. Two poor summer dealings in a row. He can’t just be a lightening conductor for the present problems. There needs to be structural change too.

I think this is Emery doing what needs to be done. And I respect him more for it.

My take on it too. Emery would have had a hand in this decision.

The disappointing thing for me has been the lack of an unknown 'gem'. Rogers is probably the closest but even then he was only up north and found as we played them.

I'm not sure this is good, all feels a bit club in crisisy. Doesn't send a great message to the players that we have just signed.

Can't wait for all the great recruiting we'll do in the summer. Oh yeah, we can't!

I know what you mean, but the performances and the body language of the players so far this season scream club-in-crisis too.

As SGT would say, the whole club smells wrong at present.

I wonder whether the seemingly pointed refusal to play Malen is a sign of a fall-out between them.

Yeah I guess the real question is this about blood letting that will cleanse the situation, or the first in a sequence of things that are to come. I really hope this corrects course, because it’s been grim.

Yep, was expecting a Brighton or Brentford style recruitment approach, yet we seem to have ended up with one more akin to West Ham or Everton.

I think I said on the evening of the window closing that I'd be surprised if he survived till Christmas. He's been very, very underwhelming, not managed the squad age or wage profile well, and left us with a pretty stale, pretty average squad. Emery may be covering his own back a little here, but whatever happens Monchi going is a good thing. He's not evolved with the times and seems to be the Harry Redknap of sporting directors. We need to go and nick the entire setup from Bournemouth. Including their manager.
