£35M profit on a 29 year old, who made 134 appearances for us.
Add in £9M for Dobbin, £10M for Digne, thats £54M.

This is shrewd business for Villa, how many times have we lost money on players in the past.
We will miss his clever play, but dont mourn the loss, be grateful it happened in the first place.
Best of luck Youri, thanks for the memories. UTV

He'll get a warm reception from me, but if anything I can see myself feeling a bit sorry for him in a few months time when he realises what he's joined.  I'm already seeing comments from the deluded cnuts that they just see him as a decent squad option - this a player who has been a mainstay in a side that has been consistently better than them for over 3 years, playing under one of the best managers in the world.

You only have to look at how they treated Rashford to see that 95% of the people who follow them are whiny, entitled tosspots who know absolutely nothing about football.  Carrick will get about 6 months before he's picking up his P45.

I hope this is true. Sadly, I think they're beginning to get their house in order. Buying premier league proven / ready players is making a big difference for them. If they get a couple more in they'll be a very good side this year (sadly).

To be fair, I'll be gutted to see him in 'that' top next season but I think this will turn out to be a good deal. I just feel that the Unai factor got the best out of him work wise but we'll see (or rather we won't see as I rarely watch those turds...)

I agree, he won't match his Villa form, possibly to the point where Man U question how much they've paid.

My concern is £35m is not enough to buy a replacement.  The mitigating factor being the return of Kamara, however Onana now needs replacing in the short term.

The good news is they’ve got Michael Carrick as their manager who is a decent sort and I’m sure a decent manager but he’s not elite
And therefore not in the same league as Unai  Emery, Tielamans was great under Emery but so was Rashford
Carrick won’t get the same time as Arteta got unfortunately that means they might bring in proper man for the job

Anyway I think Liverpool will win the league next year They’ve got some fabulous players and a manager that knows what to do with them

I reckon next season will be a proper bun fight with everyone taking chunks out of each other and form wavering with loads of new managers in place, we'll steer our ship steadily and sneak through and knick it at the death.

And Tielemans can fuck off, the fat waster.

This. I’ve seen comments from Man Utd fans on social media confused as to why we don’t like them and see them as rivals.

We don’t see them as rivals, we just detest them. Their fans are almost without exception Ill-informed, arrogant, entitled, glory hunting plastics.

It’s not a a success/jealousy thing either. Man City are far more successful and their fans are in the main far more tolerable, and usually know their football.

I disagree strongly with the Man City bit, they're just as bad if not worse, like if the noses won the lottery.

Screw all this 'wishing him well' nonsense. What is this, tiddlywinks? I was listening to claret and blue this morning and had to switch it off.

He got to play in the champions league with us under a world class manager. He got to win a trophy with us. He no doubt got offered a lucrative contract with us.

Like Yorke, Bosnich etc any villa player going there - especially now- can absolutely get fucked.

At least the others had the excuse of stepping up a level.

Whether Carrick can get another tune out of him remains to be seen but he has enough football intelligence of his own and if I were Cunha, Mbemuo or Sesko I would be absolutely delighted ...
And they appear to be giving Rashford another go at redemption there, too. Ratface and Tielemans feeding a combination of that four is potentially very powerful.

I think the profit factor meant that there was always a possibilty he ws going to go if an acceptable offer came in.  £35m is a bit low in today's market though and I can't help but feel that it's a blow to us given that he's been a really important part of the team.

With Tielemans gone, Onana out for the season and Kamara coming back from a serious injury, it does raise questions about central midfield.

I'm not sure it is that 'low' in the current market, the big money goes on youth.

Guess it's lower than what we would ask for, were the clause not there.

I would guess the clause value diminished with each passing year of the contract which might explain why nobody has come in for him sooner.  Villa do this now.  Sign within two years or move on.  I do think he will be missed a lot more than some think though.

Yeah, I'd agree, but it's not miles away from where we'd probably listen with an eye on his age and his wage.
