I always hate playing these. Decisions from all of the officials always go their way. They cheat & foul & get away with all manner of shit while their banshee crowd shout "handball" in a phlegm induced high pitch whine at every opportunity to influence the officials. Then when we invariably get screwed out of the game by the hypocritical whiny little bitch crowd led officials, a load of my mates, who are Devon born "adopted scousers" despite never going further north than Exeter in their lives have the audacity to tell me over & over that my home town club is shit. If they weren't cowards & supported their hometown club of Plymouth, then they couldn't ever have that opportunity. Which is why they chose a club from the opposite end of the country that they have fuck all association with other than the happy coincidence of being one of the most successful. Liverpool fans, especially the Devon/Brummy "adopted scousers", are by far some of the worst fans in the world. Most people hate Manchester United fans, & for good reason, but Liverpool are the original scumbag set of fans. Their arrogance is legendary & I despise them & their whole club. Which is why we will lose this game because fate absolutely hates me. 😂

My favourite.

I was there that day too. That starting 11, such quality throughout.

I make it the only time in my time going down that we we're better than them and they knew it

That was my thought too when I looked at both team sheets. Their main man being a slightly porky and ‘seen better days’ John Barnes. That said he did produce a couple of excellent moments I noticed.

As long as it's not from Dubliners. McGinn'd be getting over-excited.

How did we not beat Liverpool in that FA Cup game - when we played in our yellow Brazil top??

Big Ron was brilliant for us, the football we played when he was Manager was fantastic.

He was. It ends how it always ends, and it was the end for him as a manager too, but in three years he rebuit a team that just avoided relegation, won a cup, nearly won the league and gave us some of the best football I've seen at times.

Yes he had the money from Platty but you've got to use it well and he didn't fuck about. There was a sense of urgency and ambition that's often been lacking and I feel now with Emery.
The early 1990's were really good; my best-ever away in the League was SheffW for BFR first game - wow, it was amazing. The LCF vs RedManc was also a brilliant occasion.

I've been to Anfield several times; usually to see Villa getting valiantly beaten. The game that sticks out for me was the one we won 3-1 when the Scouse Fraud (Slippy) got sent off for trying to decapitate Boeteng.
The one that remains most impressive was the Benteke-Weimann game (when our best player was - I thought - the ill-fated Chris Herd).

Reminds me of the first Sensible Soccer we had, which would have been 1993-94 Season. 2 subs and a GK on the bench!
I lost my GCSEs to that game.

We robbed Slippy of his pre-ordained glorious farewell of a FA Cup triumph. Let’s piss on Firmino’s chips too (not that I have any strong feelings about him, I’m just a misery guts).

The Benteke 3-1 is probably my favourite away day. We played like prime Brazil and if you look at our team that day then it is frankly astonishing. Lambert, what a manager! :) Everyone sang the full 12 Paul McGrath in time for Christmas.

Yeah, and then we lost to Chelsea, Spurs and Wigan 15-0 combined before losing at Millwall and Bradford. The most embarassing month in our Villa lives and the fcuker somehow survived it.
