What is this shit?: 'We’ll have to get used to lesser teams treating us like their cup final.'

Brought to you by fans of a club that last won a domestic trophy in 1955.

I find asking them if they are called the black and white army because any footage of them winning anything is in black and white often shuts them up.

There's an earlier post on there about us being deluded because we've been mid-table plodders in the premier league era, whilst they've been in the 'champions league and challenged for titles' (not sure about the plural there).

They've been in as many title challenges as we have and have two less trophies to show for it.

1995/96. 1996/97 and maybe one under Bobby Robson?
2002/03. In the hunt, but ended emphatically with a 6-2 drubbing by Man Utd.

But if that last one counts then so does our 98/99 start under John Gregory.
They’ve finished in the top four 5 times since the EPL started, qualified for the CL twice, and gone out in the qualifiers once. The other two times there were fewer CL entrants from England. We’ve only finished in the top four twice, and both times there were fewer entrants.

They’ve also been out of the EPL for three seasons like us, having not been in the top flight for the first season, and then relegated twice.

We’ve won two LCs, been to another two finals, and been to two FAC finals. They’ve been to a couple of FAC finals, but nothing else.

Basically there isn’t a lot to divide us over that period, so it’s strange that they would have any kind of superiority complex.

We're jealous of their wealth, obviously.

The only thing they've got over us is crowds and a slavish media.

Was there some trouble after the game?  I saw some idiot on Twitter boasting about how some toon fans at the train station would have to wash blood out of their shirts.

There were a bunch of them in The Diggers after the match. They were decent to be fair. Shirts off of course.

We're not exactly paupers though.

I'd rather have our owners than theirs. Doesn't matter how much success they have, it will always be tainted and i'd hate having them as owners.

And it's that second bit that made me so happy on Saturday, I never thought I'd be singing "That's Living Alright" walking into the Holte Suite.
When did you last hear some bozo say that our fans deserve success?

You'll have to narrow it down a bit, eamonn.

Enjoyed 5-a-side tonight, though one of the Geordies cried off. The other one said 'we were due a bad day, and just didn't perform' my response was quite simple 'we didn't let you, we were better all over the pitch, and in the dugout'.

The true Geordie.  He used to be funny but then he went all corporate and became shite.

Isn't that what happened to African Car Reverser as well?
