They was one point in the game when Newcastle had a corner, normally everyone is in the penalty area defending, but this one time he stuck two Villa players on the halfway line, causing Newcastle to do the same I thought I like this Emery bloke

V Forest last week we did it every time 10 in box.. Really annoyed me
Clearly Emery knows whe  to do it and when not to.
That was quite unique in modern football and we could have scored from that corner. When the ball broke from our end Moreno almost played it over the defenders head at halfway  line putting Buendia clear for a  chance. Defender just about managed to divert it away.

Had quite a few people message me since the result yesterday and I’m following the same approach as I have over the last few weeks; nothing to see here: Fulham, Brighton, Brentford, Spudz is where it’s at. London way keep on keeping on. I’m waiting for the slow pokes to only realise what’s going on once game 38 hits - as slow as the media are as usual. I’m embracing their ignorance.

They are a nothing club, who have won fuck all for about 70 years, had 20k average attendances pre-90's yet are self proclaimed "amazing fans",  but I do enjoy beating them purely because of pure & utter deluded chumpish clueless twatting wankers like those on that thread... 🤣
To be fair we also had 20k average attendances pre-90s, that was just English football. The fact is that they have always been a relatively well supported club, albeit in a one club city. I agree that there is a media narrative that some clubs have amazing fans, and others don’t. It normally correlates with a stereotype about socio-economics, and not having much else to do, which is disappointing.

Master technician, masterclass, masterpiece, masturbate.

(Unai, the players and staff take all the credit for the first three)

Newcastle are 'our' Mona Lisa.  :)

A superb performance from start to finish from us, very enjoyable; we made them look like a lower division team- their manager did in his post match interview hold on to that they had a day off ... - the commentators on the canal I was watching said in the break they would be very suprised if Newcastle didnt come back and lead the game second half, what they did say after the game I coudnt hear as the pub I where in began to be crowded with unrespectable and too noisy fans of others team coming in to watch next games. What about Newcastle and their manager are overhyped I was thinking.

I’ve been watching Villa since 1975. I can not think of a more commanding, complete team performance.

Ask yourselves, who was our worst player?  There simply wasn’t one. Every one of them was superb.

Unai Emery is looking like the best manager we have had in modern times, and I include Saunders in that.

They had a lot less than 20k at some of their games in 80’s.   4/5k if my memory serves me correctly.   Like Chelsea.

Newcastle are a phenomenally well supported side given the only people who can remember them winning anything are grandparent-age folk. I don't know much about the relative attendances in the 80s, but from what I can see they've been getting 50k+ crowds on a regular basis for 25 years.

Absolutely incredible.
What has Unai done to these players? We have been getting the wins and not being that exciting to watch but yesterday was something else. I can't remember a better performance at Villa Park

Superb

Every single player contributed to one of the most complete performances I can remember. They have all clearly absorbed everything Emery has been showing them and with the intelligence to adapt to the tweaks in the game plan required for each new challenge. It was a special performance but there is absolutely no sense of us having peaked.

In the pub after the game my nephew reminded me of how I dampened his youthful enthusiasm during the height of the MON period by saying enjoy it because with the Villa it never seems to last. He asked how I felt this time and could only say that it feels that there is real substance to it with owners and manager 100% committed to the cause.

Take away every other club with about sixty miles of Villa Park except one from a place where the locals won't have anything to do with Birmingham for reasons going back to the civil war, give us a fawning national media and see what gates we get.
