Unai Emery is some kind of tactical genius. Last week, it was edgy as you might expect against a team battling for survival. So we played accordingly, patiently and hit them when we needed to. Not a great watch but a vital win when many teams would have buckled. Contrast with today - fast start, really went for dominance as we knew they had come to win too. Completely different 'look' from last week, but the same result.

Spot on martyn

I see that Villa are now reaping the benefits of all that excellent ground work Gerrard put in!

If you leave aside the nauseating self celebratory supporters, you've got to say Howe has done a wonderful job with a very ordinary set of players. Very one paced and plenty of their side looked simply lacking in basic technique. He's done really well to make this silk purse.

Howe got utterly owned today. He came with a high press with plenty of players which left both Ramsey Buendia and to a degree McGinn with loads of space for us to play chipped balls into the space
Behind their advanced midfield. They had no answer and ended up being caught between wanting to press and realising we could take out their entire midfield with one ball. In addition their press was fucking useless and we always seems to find a way to progress the ball. All in all we’d done our homework particularly on that donkey Burn and gave them a proper shoeing. I think someone else has mentioned it but the short corner routine we did about 5 times which created numerous chances and which they did fuck all about was bizarre.

Some utterly bizarre views of the game here. A lot of the posts are just gibberish. Why do they hate us so much, all because of us giggling along with the rest of the country when they went down?

They're a nothing team to me.

That is a delightful thread to read from page 1 to the end... 😂

The arrogance at the start. The sucker punch of the performance. The realisation of what was happening. The desperate desire to look for excuses. The tears & hatred as the result starts to sink in. More excuses & hatred. More tears & a couple of tantrums. But with a couple, & I mean two, acceptance of the situation & some praise for the team that just butt fucked them.

They are a nothing club, who have won fuck all for about 70 years, had 20k average attendances pre-90's yet are self proclaimed "amazing fans",  but I do enjoy beating them purely because of pure & utter deluded chumpish clueless twatting wankers like those on that thread... 🤣

MOTD  :on early tonight!

Just watched us. So funny to see Aston Villa superfan Danny Murphy looking so pissed off in the studio!  ;D

Still got a smile on my face...

Worth mentioning again, he's done a phenomenal job there if you look at some of the dross in that squad.

He's a very good manager indeed.

Spot on. I'm pretty sure Howe commented, in his pre-match press conference, that Villa rarely changed how they play - basically suggesting he didn't think we'd deviate from our normal passing out from the back. We did indeed change, and Howe fell into the trap beautifully.

The arrogance at the start.

Forget the arrogance, the 'kin GIFs at the start of the thread. I've not read on as my eyes are hurting.

It's like early man learning to communicate via cave paintings as they've not developed a written language yet.

So Bournemouth got another impressive result today, but we beat them 3-0.
Newcastle were on a run of 5 wins in a row but we beat them 3-0.
I see a lot of comments saying how our opposition were poor in these games, but I don't know, maybe we just made them look bad? Because, well, we're good?

I’ve never read anything like it. They are on another level and that’s not only the fans. After their League Cup Final defeat they’ve got a member of the board telling everyone that will listen that they’ll win everything. They’ve won nothing since the 50’s and all of a sudden they are world beaters. It’s staggering it really is.
I’ve never really had a problem with them but they’re believing the hype and we all know how it’ll end again.
