We’ve got a brilliant Spanish coach who knows La Liga inside out, a Spanish scout with the same knowledge, a transfer ‘fixer’ that we’ve clicked our fingers at and stolen from Barcelona, a club in Portugal, an academy that seems to be working well, and we can afford 99% of footballers in the world outside the PL.

Fuck solving Chelsea’s problems.

Haha! Wonderful!

Sounds like you fancy us as some sort of footballing mafia, relocating from Sicilia to Iberia. Must be those podcasts you're mainlining to the brain.

Saw Manuel Ugarte being linked with us today, and while I think he'll end up at Liverpool or Arsenal, that's a 100% yes from me if we can pull it off.

That's one that's come back around. We've been linked with Gonçalves before too.

I wouldn't be entirely amazed to see Emi go, not through anything he's said or done, just that we seem to use this Moneyball thing and his value and profile will never be higher than it is now. Hope he doesn't though.

I wonder if Dani Ceballos might be one we are looking at, seemed to do well for a short spell in England, will be familiar to the management team and his contract is up next month.

I'd be absolutely amazed if Emi left when we seem to be on the brink of something pretty special at this club.

All great teams have a great keeper.  If he wanted a new contract I'd probably give him one, although with 4 years left on it it hardly seems necessary.

Some of the saves he made during our good run have been superb, and probably not spoken about enough.

If he wants a new contract, give the man a new contract!

What pisses me off about this kind of thing is that every time things look on the up for us someone somehow wants to sell off our best players, with quite a great deal of success it must be said.

In the sixty-odd years I've been following the Villa I believe we have had only two players who could rightly be called world class, Paul McGrath and Emi Martinez.  With our current owners why would we even consider selling Martinez?  They have form for telling interested parties to do one.

The things Martinez has been saying over the past few months hardly sound like someone who wants to leave. And the owners were really pissed off when Grealish agitated for a move away. With Martinez developing his distribution and his sweeper/keeper act, he's perfect for the way Emery wants to play.

If you're about to spend £200m and you're being linked with top talent and building a strong management structure, selling one of your best players hardly seems congruent with that.

Particularly to the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea.

Just like with Greedy, if they genuinely want to go then they can fuck right off as they would be instantly dead to me.

All the recent platitudes he has come out with will be as soon forgotten as " My City, my club"

I genuinely think he appreciates how we got him to this point. If we do not get into Europe this year and start poorly next then fair enough we should let him go. But until that time we hold be building our team around players of his quality.

And Spurs....you have to be Joking
Replacing the £375k per week keeper at Red filth...who else would pay that wage?

Unless a Spanish or Italian mega team comes in Emi is going nowhere

None of those five (assuming Milan, Inter, Juventus, Madrid, Barcelona) would want him. They all have keepers that they are completely happy with.

To be honest - Greasy broke me.  I promised myself that I would never get emotionally attached to players to that extent again.

Hes another that could end up with "club legend" status if he stayed for the rest of his career, and I'd love him to stay - and hope he does - but if he goes I have every confidence that it won't derail things in the same way it did when Grealish left.

I appears to me the Nas and Wes learn from there mistakes pretty quickly and don't repeat them.
