I don't blame any player for looking for the best opportunity in his career. Why shouldn't he wait for a CL club if one wanted him and could afford him? There has not been one actual quote disparaging us. And we don't know if the links to us are even real. But much of this click bait media where a fraction is the truth. If he joins us it will be the best option he has available but it still might not be what he wanted. That's what we all do in our careers and maybe has happened to some of at some stage. But he's a super player and would make us better.

Yes, that happened with me twice in my career & I knew it was a stop gap until I could move on.

I was out of there as soon as a better opportunity came along...

Whereas the role I loved, I was offered more money to move but didn't have to think twice about it & stayed where I was.

I know its not exactly the same with footballers, but I still feel he will be using us as a stop gap & that can be disruptive to the group...

If its true of course... 👍

Jao Felix is not the answer to any question we have.
He's not for us.

Agreed. If he comes it’ll be Stephen Ireland Mark 2. Albeit he’s more talented but we look to have a good team spirit currently.

I don't think it's impossible for someone to end up at a club they had no intentions of joining but still have a good attitude and knuckle down. It's all very hypothetical, obviously, but if it were to happen I'd trust that Emery, Monchi, and whoever else would make sure he was going to add something. I don't think we'd take him on name/reputation alone.

Does anyone know what caused the issues at Atletico? Is he actually a bit of a dick, or is it all the other guys fault?

But we don't have agents and usually have to apply for jobs (the last time someone actively tried to hire me I was a teenager, he wanted me to creosote his fence, I said having given it due consideration that seems too much like hard work (and probably thought too much responsibility too) for whatever the offer was).

Generally there's a considerable faff involved in discovering whether an option is available (reaching the point where your application is successful and you can take the job or decline it which rarely happens at multiple places at the same time unless you're really keen and have invested a lot of time in investigating potential options) or whether it is just notional (you could submit yourself to a mindnumbing application procedure with an outside chance of landing the job offer). Alas this includes internal promotions at my work. Tell me about a time when you did something we haven't given you the opportunity to do in the last seven years....

To be fair, none of these players grew up dreaming of playing for The Villa.  They're going to want to consider all their options. Imagine that you're at a club and you have an offer from Tottenham, your club are negotiating with them and will probably be accepting the next bid they put in. You, however, have been made aware that Villa are also interested but have to move on a couple of players to make sure room in the squad and on the wage bill.  Is it disrespectful for you to send word that you'd like to wait a while for Villa to get their ducks in a row? Does this mean that you're going to put in less effort if you do end up at Tottenham? Of course not! Maybe we should be a bit more chilled when players don't come running as soon as we snap our fingers.

Yeah - this is a fair point.  And as we have seen even those players that dream of playing for us can still see it as a stepping stone

I don’t think we will sign Felix but it’s Totally opposite for me

I rate all/most players on their technical abilities and Felix is a very good player
If he joined us it would be a gamechanger it would catapult us into top 4 contenders in my view

The sad thing is, the one that did dream of it, playing in the way he played for us, would be bloody brilliant in this squad. Not the run 5 yards and pass it backwards clone that Pep has manufactured from a true one off talent, the one that could get 45k people off their feet by looking at the ball. The way we play now through transition, we lack a playmaker in the final third that can hold the ball, buy us time and pick the right pass. Oddly, McGinn in a very different way is the best we have at it for his strength and tenacity. The pet cat might have that ability. It's the type of player we lack in the final third now.

I'm wondering could we 'buy' him for a season and have a 'tidy' agreement with Barca to sell him in 12 months time when they have the money? #networking
The boy is desperate to leave Madrid. I'd hate to see him going to Benfica on loan for a season.

Suspect it will run until late in the window but still think one of the Barcelona wantaways (as in the club want to move them on) will end up here.
