If Villa had a good offer for Archer, say 20 million, would we sell him?
Chuky went for £20m, so that makes Archer a>£30m player doesn't it? Not that I'd sell him: he offers something different Watkins and could become a very useful squad player next season.

3 days since Diaby officially joined. It's about time we had another really solid link to be frothing over.

Besiktas apparently back in for Coutinho. He wants 4.5mil a year in wages, which is about 86k a week. We'd presumably want a decent fee for him too.

They're not really comparable.

Chelsea were gambling on an 18 year old who they were hoping could become a generational talent.  It was a lot of money, but Carney has been labelled as a future star for years.  It was a one off deal.

With Cam, as good as we think he is, a club would be bidding on a 21 y/o who has done pretty well at Championship level.  He would be valued on that basis, in comparison to simar aged players at similar points in their career.  That may be £20-£25m, but Chuks fee is not a benchmark to start from.

I certainly wouldn't sell him.  We've developed him this far, let's see what he can achieve.

Isnt he not meant to be any good? Or is that the American that bombed at Leeds?

I still think we need a tough ball winner in to push Kamara and would not be surprised if Guenduzi is not still on the radar

You’re getting Franck Kessié and Weston McKennie mixed up. Old age. It will get all of us eventually.

Kessie is good, McKennie is average at best.

I take your point, Chris, but if I were selling I would be using Chuky's price whenever I could!

I agree; Guendouzi might well still be in the frame; work going on behind the scenes, perhaps.

Any fee we have to split with Barca 50/50.

Guendouzi would fit in so well be a pleasant surprise as has gone quite on that one.

Well that rumour is nonsense.
Kessie is signing for Juventus for less than £20m
Yet Romeo Lavia to Liverpool is at £40m-£50 plus

I think Lavia is over rated personally and not worth the fee.
Same with Gallager and Chelsea wanting £50m

Emery and Monchi know of better deals elsewhere outside of the Prem.

I really wanted us to sign Guendouzi but I'm not sure he fits the bill as a tough ball winner.  I do think he'd be a lot more capable than Tielemans covering that role, but I think that's the compromise we made to get a good player for free.  I see Doug as Kamara's cover and Teilemans as Doug's cover.  But if we did sign him I'd be pleased.
