Seeing Harry Maguire being linked with Chelsea now Fofana is out long term. I'd laugh if that happened. Failing upwards if ever I saw it.

Incredible agent.

Like all the links to us implied that he wasn't good enough to play for them anymore and we were about as good as he could hope for, and now he could be a starter for Chelsea.

(Obviously it could be baseless speculation based purely on the fact they need a defender and he's probably the most high profile up for sale defender at the moment. But still funny anyway)

1. The Premiership is rugby, is it not?

No. Keep it to yourself but the 'Premiership' is only used on here to piss off Dave. ;)

Diaby's going nowhere until any club that wants him agrees a fee with Leverkusen. That's the hold up & they don't need to sell.

He's seemingly indicated that he's happy to come to us & no doubt we've established the basis of a contract with him. I think we'll get him by the weekend.

Agreed, John. Plus, if we're going to throw big money around I would rather it spent on a top centre forward. Who? Absolutely no idea but I'm sure they still exist. The Turkish fella at Porto doesn't need three chances to put the ball in the back of the net but age is not on his side. Pay me Monchi's salary and I'm sure I'd find a shortlist.

Rumour has it the fee is agreed now it's up to the fella to decide what he wants to do with his life.

Any news on a decent goalkeeper? I watched the pravda training video and was a tad concerned to see Sweden's 6 yard box hugger still very much involved
Concerningly I think hes here to stay.

In fact, I heard the new north stand is going to be named after him.

With a huge mural of him getting beaten at his near post against Stevenage plastered on it.

Just landed in Perth and see nothings happened in the last 12 hours. I hope this isn’t going to be like every recent transfer window. Two decent signings we don’t need and lots of links to the one position we are desperate for but no deal done.

For what it’s worth I think we will sign two more, but it’s Villa and I am a worrier.

I think we'll see 4 more in yet. 2 forwards, full back cover and another central midfielder.

As for the reserve keeper, God help us all, we're going to need it.

Pau Torres clearly an Emery signing, so he obviously thought there was a need, enough for me as things stand.
I think we’ll get a couple of forward thinking players in, in the next month.

Did you fly from UK and if so, did you do the Qantas non-stop from Heathrow? I’ve got that trip coming up at the end of the year and while I’m largely over my fear of flying, a 16.5 hours flight is giving me pause.

Of course…journalists aren’t going to call it out if they know what’s good for them are they?

Yes I took the Heathrow to Perth Qantas flight, use it about three times a year and is very good. I only ever fly economy and is loads better than Emirates via Dubai or the other options.

My issue this time was the BA code share from Manchester, where they refused to check my bags through, making the connection very tight (almost missed it). I am heading to Queensland but take two days to adjust as makes life easier than getting straight on another longish flight. Have a few farms to visit tomorrow.

Qantas are as good an airline as you can get, and the airports work well here. You can go straight to a airport shop and get a local SIM card if you take a spare phone.

That’s good to hear. Taking mumsie and visiting my brother and we’re in economy. Was wondering if it might be a bit uncomfortable in economy, I had to talk her down from buying business class, just didn’t seem worth it. Cheers for the tip!
