Lots more talk of Diabloy today and our 50m EURO bid.

I think if the player is set on coming then it could be done soon, if he's happy to stay then I think they'll hold out for the 60m.

If we spend 60m EURO on him, how much more do we reckon we will have in the kitty this window? And will we be looking for a striker?

If we get Diaby, I think we'd go for a younger forward like Johnson or Gnonto, and that would be more or less it.

Woukd you be happy with it?

Absolutely. As Lee says, I think they'll bring a new reserve goalie in, and maybe a right back, but in terms of high profile signings it would be a brilliant summer, with strength and competition in all departments. Oh and a bit of pace, which we've missed for years.

I think I'm with you and Lee, though I'd balance it with wanting another forward if we let Philogene, Traore and Bailey go.

Definitely another keeper, though I wonder if Martinez wants to play every game...

As for RB, we have Cash and then Chambers and Konsa can do a job, as can the younger players.

You might be right regarding the right back, was just thinking how Newcastle sailed into the Champions League spots with Dan Burn or Matt Target as left back options

I don't think there's any suggestion that we *would* let all three of those go is there?

I don't see us letting Bailey go at all, unless a mad bid came in for him

Bailey is at that two years left stage now where they will be looking at whether they offer a new contract or not, so it's a big season for him.

Not many gone out yet really or any strong rumours
Some suggestion that some Turkish side or other want Bertie, though there's quite a difference between 'want' and 'are able to afford'.

Apparently the German side are "brasing" themselves for an Increased bid for Diaby by Villa.

Also talk of Mello on a loan with Villa paying his wages?

Yup. You'd think that either he's great this season and we want to give him a new deal or he's not very good and we're sending him to Ajax or Frankfurt for £10m or so.

He definitely wouldn't be the first player to have a stonkingly good season just as new contracts need to be discussed...

Just out of interest - is Diaby any good.  His stats look similar to bailey - who isn't up to the standard IMO.

Unless Bailey's early injury has made him a different player then he would have otherwise have been.

I'm sure his old man is waiting for the right moment...

I think there's a lot in that to be honest. His time with us has largely been plagued by injuries/niggles. That Everton game when he scored and injured his quad, he was devastating. He's definitely inconsistent (but what wingers aren't!?) and I, personally, think he's better on the left as an out and out winger. Ultimately, I think it's going to be a case of what could have been, sadly

I trust Emery completely to get the best out of players, and you only have to look at Mings, McGinn and Watkins for proof. Unfortunately I think we're seeing the best that Bailey has to offer, and frankly it's miles off being good enough. Similar position with Buendia. £60m worth of mediocrity I'm afraid to say.

I know nothing about Diaby other than the highlights reel, my initial observation was he looked very very left footed . £50-60m i'd be very nervous about this one . But Emery seems to know what he's doing so i'm chilled

Well so far, prior to Youri and Pau, there has been one Unai signing and he didn’t turn out too bad!
