I just don't see us buying a player like that. He's cost a lot in transfer and wages and there's question marks over his ability, much more likely to pay a fraction for some young Spannish/Potuguese lad that turns out to be sensational.
I'd be surprised if we buy any PL based players.  The price premium just isn't worth it, particularly when we have a manager with such wide European knowledge.

Me too Chris, although I think we'll have a nibble at Zaha on a free from Palace.
He would improve us massively tbf.  I imagine he'll be looking for a CL club, but whether they're looking for him is another matter.  But leaving his beloved Palace on a free, I'm not sure he'd see us as a big enough step up.  He'd be wrong of course.

The other factor in our favour is the manager, which is true of any player but particularly as he was desperate to sign him at Arsenal.

You've got my hopes up now.  The more I think about it the more it makes sense.  Obviously, age and wages are an issue, but in terms of ready made player to help us kick on in the short term he seems ideal.

Yeah, him in the Bailey role would make a significant difference. Plus him at one end and Emi at the other would drive most opposition supporters mad.

Yep agreed. He's got tons of ability and can play anywhere along the front line, so isn't going to hinder Ollie's continued progress. Playing in a 4-4-2 he'd be miles better than Bailey, and in a front three which we haven't really seen much of yet under Emery, he'd be excellent as well.

And his versatility would give us vital cover for the main striker role if Ollie picks up a knock.

The shithousery is a bonus.

Reckon he's probably a bit past it.

If his ability in the transfer market (i.e. identifying attainable quality at a good price) is up to the standards of everything else we've seen from him so far we could be in for very exciting times.

Always well-dressed when he covers Fulham or ManYoo for Sky, though.

That would be a great signing.

Yep, unfortunately. A proven premier league performer, who probably has two or three decent years left in him. However, on a free, and on his last big contract, his wages would be astronomical - and he probably would want five years. If Newcastle make the top four he's pretty much nailed on for them I would think.

A very good player, and he'd improve us - but he doesn't feel like a very "Villa" signing under the current regime.
