Even at 2-0 down, I felt confident that we would score goals. The drinks break and Frank's tactics board came at a good time. They  lethargically reurned to the pitch while the Villa were ready to go.

I think we are going to really enjoy this season. We will always look to win playing attractive football. We won’t win them all but we will try every game. That’s all I’ve ever wanted in a manager and Villa team. For too long we have been so passive and there to make up the numbers. Even MON used to say “we will give it a go”. No, play to win and set up tactically to do that. Not roll up sleeve or socks, or we go again or look for magic. We have a manager who will work his bollocks off all week to set us up right and players who are buying into it all.

They need to find a way to control mcGinn otherwise  it could be a bad bad day for Thomas & co.

Watch how JPB and Ollie break left and right as Ezri gets to the edge of the box, pulling the defenders wide and opening up the space for him to drive into the penalty area.

Quality play by both of them.

McGinn, Kamara and Luiz have run the game between them, none of their midfielders have got close to breaking things up which is why all they've had is the long balls.

The question now is how scrappy does the second half go. I do hope we go for it.

On recent showings, I cannot wait to get my arse into villa park this season!
We’re going to eat over half of this league for breakfast! Some of the football we’re playing is mesmerising 👌🏼

We controlled that from start to finish, with the Brentford goals coming against the run of play. We're setting up with 6 at the back when we need to, but we've had so much of the game that it's looked like our normal shape is with 3 at the back. More noticeable than last season, probably a combination of our command and having a centre back in the fullback area. Pau's so good technically though, you wouldn't think it's a centre back playing at fullback.

I really enjoyed that , our football at times is sublime , the passing is just liquid .

Diably is going to get 20 goals this season and still think another attacking player will come in .

Midfield looks awesome and Philigene is a bonus ,  Id like to see Coutinho on while we are playing like this to maybe get him an assist or goal for confindence .

That viagra worked in the drinks break

For those of us not able to watch, what is the defensive configuration like?

Wait till you see Konsas goal. Brilliant. Brentford just kept backing off so he just ran with it for 50 yards then smashed it in.

He probably has, thanks to PWS. Unfortunately, it also means seeing Brentford's away shirt.
I hope he has. It was a stunner but the commentator on sky said Brentfords was goal of the day. I don't fkn think so!! And that Brentford shirt is an abomination.

I know it's preseason friendlies and everything that comes with that, but Diaby is 2 from 2 so far. If he even scored 1 in 3 in the league he'd contribute nearly twice as many as our second highest scorer last season.

Konsa off for Carlos.  Only change.  Sensible not to make too many changes.  Keep with the flow we had from the first half.
