Emery masterclass.2-0 cruising and Sanson lost his man to make it harder than it would have been. Very encouraging none the less; Young immense but Kamara was different gravy.

I have no idea how you can come to the conclusion that Sanson was at fault for the goal, Gnonto was marked by Young who went downa bit too easily which gave them the space to get through. Sanson did his best to try to get a challenge in but when you're racing back to cover there's always a risk the attacker will cut back like that and there's not much you can do about it.
And also somehow blame the manager for bringing him on, unless i read that wrong
Sanson was to blame though.  He got rolled.
It was poor by him.
Young was arguably fouled but Sanson failed in his job unlike Kamara, Douglas Luiz and Ramsey who covered well a few times.

Great result - Kamara, Young, Emi and Bailey all excellent

Everyone else a bit shit.  Defence was ok first half - second half mings and konsa looked lost for 30 mins

I don't know, Mings and Konsa cut out so many crosses from them especially from those set pieces near the end. That Gnotto guy was a right nuisance, great battle between him and Young all night.

Very average performance to be generous. Thought we'd have lift off after the really good Bailey strike (yet another frustrating performance from him) but after that Leeds largely dominated and we really didn't want to take any risks at all until we went 2 up and they started playing about 4 upfront.

After Bouba, thought Moreno had a fantastic debut. Was brave in the challenges and can tell straight away he has excellent technique so hopefully he won't just forget how to play football in a few weeks like pretty much all our LBs do after 2-3 games.

Think we need to tweak our structure a bit. Bouba can't play that well yet Leeds still cut through us on many occasions. We really need to tell Luiz to drop in and not expect Kamara to intercept every move, he's played DM for us for about three seasons now so he should have that nous in him.

Also a bit surprised we didn't try to shut down their left at 2-0 up, Gnotto was their dangerman all night yet we were still trying to overload the central positions when they just had Adams in there and he's more of a DM? Bit odd and cost us a goal really (and they could've easily scored from plenty of other similar situations).

That was very definition of a hard fought win. Did we even have a corner all game?If Ollie is out for a few weeks I imagine we'll be getting in another CF soon so that could be something to look forward to next week.

Our shithousery is improving

I hope Emi doesn't pick up too many more bookings though.  We don't want that plank Olsen back in goal any time soon!

Well we're passed the first possible ban window now so he can get another 6 before we need to start worrying.

Kamara is such a wonderful footballer. The best in our squad by a country mile. Mings & Konsa wont be our long term CBs. They just cant do it. The style Emery wants is beyond their ability levels. Its a good job we have Carlos as a starting point when he is back fit next season. A left footed CB to partner him & we will become a very different side. A less shit one. Yet, we still won while playing shit today. That would not have happened under Gerrard & maybe its a glimpse of where we could be heading. But I cant get too excited too early. Villa have broken my heart more times than I care to remember. So cautiously thinking, over time, we might become a little less shit than we are now...

How do you know Carlos is the answer??
I’m guessing it cus he’s not one of the incumbents…..I he may well be but nothing is proved yet and both of them played their part tonight especially Tyrone!!

Just seen the interview with their manager, he wasn't nearly as bitter as I'd hoped, I'm quite disappointed tbh.

Says he’s happy to continue loose if they play like that.

I’d be fucking overjoyed if they continue to lose and piss off back to the championship.

Marsch - “we were the better team”. He just doesn’t get it does he. If I were a Leeds fan, would be very worried.

Leeds play on the front foot with tenacity, but break their press and they are

weak

Defending is as much part of the game as attacking so I’m not making excuses for us winning…we won 2-1 end of.

Kamara outstanding

Martinez did everything expected of him

Their defence is shite. Bailey has no right foot so terrible defending by their LB to show him inside for both goals. Keeper is dodgy too. They'll concede loads of goals this season.

I'd have some sympathy for him if:

They weren't a bunch of dirty pricks.
They didn't whine over every decision that doesn't go their way despite the above.
They hadn't had games go exactly the same as today ever since they came back up because they can't defend for shit and aren't as good going forward as they'd need to be to get away with it.

Also worth a special mention for the entire footballing press that seem to ignore all of the above and blow smoke up their arses, making the club and fans think they're much better liked than they really are. It'll be a great day when they fuck off back into obscurity for another 15-20years.

One deflected shot and a great save from Emi equated to our goal leading a "charmed life" in the first half according to SSN.

Your team lost, get over it.

Leeds pressing was intense first half, we were smothered. Predictably they can’t keep that up and we were much better second half. Thought Ashley Young was excellent on what was a testing night for him, one mistake when he played for the foul and they went on to score. We clearly need a better striker and cover for Bailey. Very stressful but I love a Friday night win!

Martinez, Mings, Konsa and Young were magnificent in defence tonight. Kamara was superb as well. Moreno had a great debut and in the second half Buendia played very well.

They are such a physical team and make it tough but I thought we dealt with it brilliantly and made enough chances and maybe a little more ruthless it wouldn’t have been so nerve racking at the end.

Considering the two injuries so early on you have to give massive credit to the manager. He’s completely changed this team around so quickly and they look so much more organised and confident. We do give the ball away a bit too carelessly at times but they are really trying to move it much quicker than they were under Gerrard.

Fantastic result.

I was very happy with the win, glad we don't get points for performances. Again it was better in the 2nd half, but apart from Kamara we struggled in midfield.

We knew they would play an energetic high press, so we should have varied the tactics more. We could have tried going longer into the space behind, rather than playing out and trying to break the lines, as it floundered too often in our midfield.

Dion has been watching an entirely different game I think.

Konsa and Mings were excellent he reckoned 🤔

Mings fell over for one of their counters but can't think of anything else. Konsa cut out plenty of their crosses from the left late on.

They have their flaws but I'm struggling to see how much more dominant they could be in the situation especially as we were pretty open centrally on the occasions Leeds got past Bouba.
