His only decent game has been one in which he literally had no shot to save.

He deserves stick for them not being up *for* it. But they should be up *to* it if they'd been coaching themselves for 2 months. Sorry, the idea the selection was the problem is an absurd crutch. The problem was the disastrous, horrible, half-arsed, shit-brained, lily-livered candy-ass spiced pumpkin horseshit performance from the players.

Exactly this! We convincingly beat League 2 Barrow a couple of seasons ago by playing our U21s!

Absolutely correct
I can understand, using squad players and rotate a bit, but when it comes to the goalkeeper he is the most important position on the pitch he can very easily win you games or lose you games . We all know which this one does
He is a proven failure. We know that through watching him in all his previous games bar the one you’re talking about

Why would you keep putting a proven failure in the Nets
There’s only ever going to be one outcome

Awful and embarrassing.
I used them once. Never again. The worst estate agents I've ever seen.

For 4th and 5th round weekends the entire squad should be volunteered to work for local charities / coach local junior teams…100% not weekends off

They had the Stevenage manager on the radio this morning, and even he said he'd be disappointed if his keeper had let their second goal in.

He looked so fat I’m surprised he could even fit on radio.

Really?
Well, no not really, I was using the idiom of irony and sarcasm to elaborate my proposal that he rarely consumes salads

There needs to be fallout from this.

There can't just be a shrug of the shoulders from coaching staff, middle management etc that it's a bad day at the office/just one of those things.

The FA Cup should always matter to Aston Villa.

Our attitude and approach to it has been fucking appalling for too long now.

I had an ominous feeling about what could happen sitting on a slender one goal lead when Coutinho put the ball in row Z for the fourth time!

Leon Bailey: you don't have to be Messi to realise that if you've got the close attention of three opposing players, then there's a good chance one of your team will be in free space for a pass (umpteen times!).

Premier League players are supposed to be fitter than lower league players. So, why not try to tire them out by playing at a faster pace than walking football?

That second goal was laughably pathetic. Pathetic for the total lack of anyone closing the man down, yes, but also pathetic for the ease with which it beat our 'goalkeeper'.

Absolutely fucking pathetic.
If that happened at a race course there would definitely be a Stewards enquiry and Race Authorities will look around for betting trends.

The first goal was utterly stupid. But sometimes things like that happen.

The second was unforgiveable. No leadership or organisation from anyone. If Martinez or Mings had been on the pitch there's no way on earth that would have happened.

The only possible positive that I can think of about yesterday's debacle is that it accelerates Emery's squad overhaul.

I feel so sorry for the young Villa fans (some of whom would have been "treated" to a game at Villa Park, which is prohibitively expensive now for so many, possibly for the first time in a while) and will be today suffering the taunts of all and sundry. Some of the youngsters will be thinking they'd rather claim allegiance to one of the self styled big six after that disgraceful performance.

Where does the blame lie?  I won't criticise the manager for rotating the squad. That eleven still had more than enough experience and talent to see off a well drilled League Two side.  However, I thought the mentality of the players was appalling;  no urgency, no nous, no determination.

Compare how Leeds (with several youngsters in the team) fought back against a Cardiff team in a tough away fixture.

You've got to want it... and (unlike us fans) our players didn't.

You can’t blame the manager for rotating his squad but what about him playing a sub standard goalkeeper one who’s a proven failure who other defenders good or bad have no faith in, who continuously lets the team down and costs us goals
why if you’ve not been up to the job 4 out of 5 times do you keep doing the same thing

I blame him for that because it’s bordering on incompetence
unless of course he don’t give a shit about the FA Cup, which I think is the case

And to top it off and make it even worse he’s got one of the best goalkeepers in the world sitting on the fucking bench
