A jugular job? The circus left town when we fired Gerrard weeks ago.

It's only been 65 and a bit years since we lifted the cup and we embark on yet another journey. All kinds of odd sides have managed to win it in that time including the likes of Wigan, Bolton, Wolves, West Ham, Coventry, Wimbledon and Portsmouth. I just hope that we do it sometime soon again. Emery will have seen quite a bit of his squad now and hopefully will keep the changes to a minimum. Home against Stevenage, we should take the game to them and win without needing spot kicks. They are sitting 2nd in league 2, so they will have some confidence, and with nothing to lose and all to gain, will give it a go. We cannot fall into a trap of complacency.

So I'll be optimistic and say 3-0 to us - Ings x 2, Bailey with the third.

Thank you, TV ! For kicking off the thread!
I'm also optimistic because Emery has a cup pedigree and his ambition matches that of the clubs to win a trophy.

Olsen in goal and Cash again at right midfeld aswell as starting minutes to several players. That's what I think Emery will do.

Olsen,
Chambers Bednarek, Mings Augustinsson.
Cash Kamara, Dendoncker
Coutinho
Bailey, Ings

3-0

Start with our strongest eleven available. After world cup break we need some continuity.

If we get a two or three goal lead, use the 5 subs asap.

This needs to be a jugular job.
I agree, however I don't see Emery doing anything along those lines. He will, I believe, rotate. As a result if that happens, the starting lineup he chooses will be a source of consternation for some but not me.  I have faith in him for every lineups he picks.

Including having Olsen as the cup keeper.
Maybe if it wasn't against a league 2 team at home, and the Leeds game is on Friday, so whichever way he plays, we should be able to use all five subs.

Have enough in the squad to comfortably win be it we start strong and then rest or be it a changed up starting eleven

A time to give the like of Coutinho, Sanson, Chambers, Augustinsson, Bednarek, Olsen, Dendocker and Ings starts. 4-0

A great opportunity to give Archer a start.....oh wait, we've pushed him out the door up to Middlesbrough!

He needs more football than just whatever FA Cup games are left. If we beat Stevenage we could get drawn away to Man City next, and then we're probably out. He's clearly not going to get ahead of Watkins, Ings and Bailey as things stand.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Bailey play to build up his confidence after the Wolves game.

Serious question, would Stevenage see this game as an inconvenience given their position in the league?  Could they even play a few second string players?

I wonder with Archer gone, we may see Rory Wilson in the squad for this one, given his new pro deal?

Really looking forward to this, feels like ages since we had a proper home 3rd round tie not Man Utd!!

Expect to win but would like to see squad players and some youngsters get time on the pitch.  Martinez has had a rest so should play, would like to see Bogarde get a game, Ashley needs a break, Digne can sit it out and let Augustinsson play, Luiz looked a bit laboured vs Wolves but was poss carrying a knock from Spuds game, Kamara also done a lot of work recently, Buendia has to be dropped and he is much better from bench if needed and Coutinho could do with 80/90 mins.  Assuming Ramsey will be fit and we need him to get time before Leeds game.   Hopefully good mixture of experience and kids on bench

Martinez
Cash Bogarde Mings Augustinsson
Dendoncker Sanson
Bailey Coutinho Ramsey
Ings

Olsen
Young A
Konsa
Feeney
Kamara
Buendia
Watkins
+2 of Raihky, O’Reilly, Young K and Wilson

Chambers and Bednarek (if not recalled by Soton) will surely play. Might try Chambers in midfield. It's hardly worth risking Ramsey so surely one of our young guns is deserving of a chance.

I've got a strong Gravesend vibes for this one. I remember we wore blue away kit at home and scored a couple of beauties buy played with something to spare .

I'd be surprised if Bednarek plays. If there's even a chance of him going back, they surely won't want him cup tied.

Would like to see Feeney start in defence.

We wore our away kit because we were the away team.  They switched the tie as you could do in those days.

I remember they should have had a penalty in the first 30 seconds then we went up the other end and scored.  I also remember at least one THFC flag in the away end.
