I thought nearly all the players acquitted themselves exceptionally well, although there was nothing much from Bailey again.

I'm never too confident even at 2 goals up with 10 minutes to go, but we played very effectively especially in the 2nd half and nullified any threat.

I think it may be a step too far for top 6 this season but, with a bit of luck and a fair wind, I wouldn’t put 7th out of the question.

Only 4 points (will be more if Chlesea win this) and a lot of teams I'd back us to beat between us and the top 6.

Not seeing much love for McGinn in here, I thought he was superb today, worked himself into the ground. And that assist, well!

If Coutinho had supplied that ball instead of SJM for Luiz to score we'd all be banging on about Brazilian magic. I thought he had a great game obviously helped by being played in his best position.

I watched on two separate streams and on both everything was about them. Their players, their form, blah blah fucking blah. That's why the victory is so sweet.

NBC here is as bad - watched post game and they are still talking about Spuds, Conte, Kane and how they can’t be losing to teams like Villa. Nothing about how good we were.

Wankers.

Great start of 2023!

The subs where he put Cash on for Bailey but keeps him in front of Young is pure Genius!
Spurs that tires to use their left side gets totally shut down to the point where Son looks like he was about to start weeping.
Villa got so many turnovers as Cash plays both ways and Young sees out the game owning Persic while maintain perfect formation.

Man U, Brighton, Liverpool and Spurs....thought that maybe 2 points from that run would be ok. We got 9!

Looking at the table, 8th should be nailed on, anything higher up the table would be brilliant. Points rather than position should be our benchmark this season. Let's close the gap with those above and increase it with those below. Fulham, Brighton, Brentford and Palace stand in our way. Think big. Onwards and upwards.

There are still people of my ilk sticking around sucking oxygen that remember all the media fawning and grovelling over Tottenham back in the early sixties, which makes any victory over them all that sweeter.  Well done Villa.

Never quite got over that LC final against them

At half time they asked Redknapp what the game needed and the plank came out with ‘a bit of magic from a Kane or Son’ - spot on Jamie they both did disappearing acts second half.

Superb hard working performance, every player was at their job, even likes of Bailey for whom not a lot was happening still worked hard.

Kamara & Luiz taking most of plaudits quite righty but good to see McGinn getting better game by game

Two very good performances in a week. Much better player away from his own box.

Douglas Luiz is fantastic in his new role with Kamara. He’s always been a nice player, but hasn’t had chance to have an impact which catches the eye. He’s now doing this as he’s playing in a more advanced role and it really suits him. I really hope we can keep hold of him.

Watkins is another who is again playing so much better since Emery arrived and if others are chipping in with goals if he can notch 10-15 a season that’s decent for a forward who works as hard as he does.

As already mentioned Cash on for Bailey - tactically superb.

Young beating Son in a foot race - a joy to watch.

Someone call the police as it was daylight robbery to get Kamara on a free  - he was everywhere

The more the game went on the more I could not see them scoring.

Just imagine when Emery gets his own players in
