Also, Watkins gets stick for his finishing but he looks to me to have found monster mode again, he's a one man attacking press, he's been loads more involved and effective again since Emery came in.

Yeah he was great at harrying and pressing. If he had some end product he'd be unstoppable. That's not meant to sound as churlish as it might read, he was great today.

Glorious. There's something special about beating Spurs. I mean I hate United, Arsenal, Shitty and Liverpool but at least they've won things in recent memory that almost warrant the arrogance and shit eating grins. Spurs fans are utterly ridiculous. Every year is their year until it isn't. We should be aspiring to push them a lot closer in the near future in terms of finishing positions and I think with Newcastles rise and improvements at Utd and Arsenal, Spurs will be a 5-7th side rather than top 4. Even serial winners Conte and Jose struggle to push them on.

I think the new stadium has helped raise their profile to the point where the media now seem to believe that they should be right up there, whether they justify it or not.  They'll always be one of those clubs who just have a cup run once every ten years and do bugger all else.

Their fans, on the other hand, have always been a deluded bunch of twats.

It's the London effect. Look at West Ham as well.

Do I have to?  Every time I see their poxy ground I think "where the f*** did *they* all come from?"

Great result, we had a tactical plan which we'd clearly been working on, and executed it perfectly. They had a couple of half chances but we were much the better team and deserved the win. Lovely stuff.

The whole Super League Thing and them being a part of it was laughable. It was like Doink the Clown turning up at a WWE hall of fame show.

There is a saying in football, that 'you learn more from your defeats than you do from your victories'.  Really important that Emery keeps teaching them because this could get really good, especially if we manage to bring in a couple of quality players.  For me, Bailey and Buendia would be those who might miss out, despite them doing ok today.  Carlos in for Konsa, Emi in for Olsen, who was excellent today to be fair, and we suddenly have a very decent side.

Loved the cameo's from Ings and Coutinho, they were excellent.  I think I have a bit of man love for Boubs.  What a player.  Luiz was brilliant today too. A really solid performance and we looked in control from start to finish.

There are still people of my ilk sticking around sucking oxygen that remember all the media fawning and grovelling over Tottenham back in the early sixties, which makes any victory over them all that sweeter.  Well done Villa.

This is why he has to stay.
I don’t think he’ll ever be prolific, but if he can knock in 12 goals and help out a 20 goal striker then he will become priceless.
His work ethic is beyond question, he leaves it all on the pitch

Great team performance, with special mentions to Kamara, Luiz & Watkins. Defensively rock solid too. We need to capitalise on the next 5 games & set up the 2nd half of the season.

Thought the ref had a good game too.

Kamara and Luiz in midfield, top 6 stuff.

A proper game plan executed brilliantly by each and every player.

Cash for Bailey. Ingenious by our ingenious manager along with other substitutions.

Olsen real solid, Coutinho sharp, Watkins dangerous, Mings and Konsa alert, McGinn refined, Buendia busy. Young clever, Digne solid, Bailey a threat.

The fact some pundits and dome of our own fans forecast us to win this shows the leaps and bounds we are making under Unai.

As Dave W would say 'We are reaching for the stars'.  :)

My experience of Spurs fans I've ever known or worked with has been almost entirely dreadful. I can even begrudgingly say I've known some decent Utd, Liverpool and even Arsenal fans. The level of spewed nonsense has also been next level from Spurs fans I've known. In my experience anyway. They've also been split into two camps. The smug ones with ideas way above their station, or the miserable bastards. Maybe Villa have that streak but I've always felt we have a bit of gallows humour and self-deprecation about the drudgery of following the club sometimes. The miserable spurs gits, who even piss and moan when they're overachieving are unbearable.

The last thing Sky or the BBC want is for us to rock up, kick down the door to their cosy little club and announce...Right you bastards we are Aston Villa and we are gatecrashing your party. Carry on like this and that could well happen.
