A very happy new year. Finally, we have a manager who is capable of setting up a team, with the undoubted talent in our squad, to compete in this league. Wins against ManUre, and Brighton and Spurs away, is a very encouraging start.

Brilliant second half - Kamara and Luiz in midfield were excellent - McGinn much improved since his hair cut

Back 5 unrecognisable compared to the Boxing Day - so we’ll organised - well done to Olsen looked much calmer than in previous outings

Watkins showing the value he brings - and Phil looked really sharpe when he came on

Brilliantly managed game by Unai -UTV

Great result made all the sweeter by the weeping of the home fans in both the stands and the Sky commentary box.

I did not expect that! Very professional from Villa; Kamara is becoming really important to us. Buendia worked hard first half and as space started opening up in the second half, he had some gorgeous touches. Olsen did really well again I thought. No clangers, came and collected a few times, well done. How brilliant to win today! Fantastic!

With the way Conte has Spurs set up it was a good matchup for us. They were pitiful, has to be said.

I thought Kamara, Young, Mings and Luiz did especially well today. Chuffed with all three points, I didn’t really expect any if I’m honest.

Big thanks to Unai Emery.. we look like a football team.

On spurs, Conte is massively overrated, little more than Bruce with an accent. Bissouma is not the player lots on here were making him out to be when calling for us to sign him for 4-5 windows in a row and I'm glad we didn't get him and ended up going for Kamara instead who is a far better DM. Gil is utterly shit.

LOVE beating Spurs. Fans with ideas above their station when realistically, they aren’t any bigger than Villa or Everton (probably not even that big in reality). Should put them back in their box for a week or two!

Credit to the boss and the team. Nullified Spurs attack, and Ollie at the other end worked tirelessly and had the beating of that defence every time - A real thorn in their side.

Congrats to superglue fingers Olsen too. First clean sheet in a Villa shirt.

Now let’s follow this up by smashing the dogheads!

Poor first half. Excellent second. I put it all down to me having my yearly shower at HT and changing in to my Archer 35 shirt. I'm not obsessed. Honest!

Kane and Lloris both suffering from a WC hang-over. They were at fault for both goals.

So I will admit that maybe, just maybe, Emery has a better handle on the starting line-up than I do.
