So their outfield World Cup winner is fine to play then.
As is their World Cup finalist goalkeeper

I see 2023 has started with the usual air of optimism!

Come on Villa boys, let’s do them!

Positives : Sanson's back open the bench, erm that's it. Anyway, let's hope for the best.

That is a very poor decision re: the goalkeeper.
I know Emery is the boss, but this looks like an effort to prove it.

Seemed pretty clear to me in Unai’s pre match interview why Olsen should start. He basically said Olsen now knows what is expected of a goalkeeper in his team whereas Emi has not been trained into the new role yet

The world cup winning keeper is not qualified to play for Emery?

If Martinez is fit to travel he should be starting,  No question.

That’s not what I said.  You know how Emery likes detailed patterns of play and Olsen has been party to those sessions whereas Martinez will not have a clue on things like our plan to beat a press - yet….

Martinez to come off the bench and score the winner.
Or save a penalty.

I'd put a tenner on Olsen giving the ball away trying to beat the press and them scoring from it
