It's funny because despite a few finals and spending truckloads I sort of see this current period as the least successful period of the club's history but reading this gives me pause for thought. I guess if we haven't won a trophy by 2027 then we equal this era.

How did they travel comparatively quickly in those days. Did trains run on Christmas Day?

Thanks for that - I assumed it was the case. I recall my Dad saying when he lived in The Big Smoke in late 1950s transport ran on Christmas Day but basically churches pubs and football grounds were only places open
