Excellent performance. Brighton don't give much away on their turf and overall we looked good value for the win. The best part was the response from going a goal down. We quickly dug in and got ourselves in the game, where Gerrard probably would have overseen a capitulation. We also had an idea on how to get at them and make some chances. It wasn't the prettiest but considering our away form, their home form and a 6 point game prior, this is a great result.

Ings MOTM, closely followed by Kamara.
If you look at Ings' villa career so far, he hasn't started too many of his matches. When he does he tends to look like scoring. Whether we can find an ongoing way of playing him and Ollie (which has only intermittently worked), that will be good, but otherwise, it's probably still Ollie as the first choice for his running and relentless energy. It's just Ings for the most part looks more like netting. He just doesn't seem like an impact kind of player and suits coming in at the beginning rather than last 30 minutes.

We have a proper manager, a proper game plan, a proper shape and a proper scoreline.

Fantastic

P.S. Well played John McGinn. Gave him a lot of stick recently but he proved me wrong today.

Apparently we are dreadful to watch, time wasting, too many players back. This from a Brighton fan. Called sour grapes.

Had us down for wins against both Manure and Brighton but, wasn’t so confident today after seeing the lineup. However, I think Ings had one of his best games for us and lots of other players also put in a shift. Liverpool is now a must win for our relentless push into the European places!!

Eh? He was forever giving the ball away, miles more than anybody else in the team.

A masterclass in game management.

Definately. It shows up how limited Gerrard was.

Even Lil’ Lee thinks it was a Pen against Digne, so what do I know

Never a penalty. There was no intent to foul, Brighton player ran into Lucas, the clumsy donkey.

I don't like those sort of penalties but, based on what's been given against us in the past, I'd expect it to be a penalty if a Villa player that was on the receiving end of that tackle. Been on 3 or 4 other clubs' forums and pretty much everyone thinks it was a penalty and that VAR got its wrong, with the word stonewall being used a lot.

Cracking result though and the table looks a lot better than it did 8 days ago.

True, but he excelled in other areas of his game that have been below par in the last couple of years.

Europe here we come .

Great result  against a team who have just spanked Chelsea and arsenal. Digne had a good game and Ings .

Considering Watkins and bailey was ill , very happy and we need a new CB .

Enjoy your Sunday

A cracking hard fought win!
Brilliant from Emery! Defensively we were fantastic (except for the 1st minute). Mings motm and ingerlund has no space for him haha!
We restricted them to just 2 goal attempts from 7 chances.
Brighton think they’re already cl haha and dunk thinks he’s some kind of hard man!
Fack off small time club!
Ref awful throughout...he should be embarrassed by the number of Villa bookings compared to Brighton’s.
Digne a lucky boy with that pen shout, then again it was only Brighton.
Brilliant from Emery btw! UTV!

Great result, decent performance.

For now, I think that's all we can expect. I can get used to this winning malarkey.
