Like driving to all the way to QPR for instance or pulling our mates car over and legging it along the hard shoulder of the M56 from ours to relay the news that the match at Newton Heath was off.

To add insult to injury, over a pint in the Swan on the A4576, we found out that the match had been called off while we were in the fancy dress shop in Hall Green.

I was at Bolton a few seasons ago in Siberian type conditions. It was most unpleasant and we bastard lost.

Sun was shining in Manchester during the day then it closed in horribly once we got to Bolton. Grim.

The Bolton game was vile, but I think Anfield was colder as it was in the evening. No snow though.

Anfield in winter is always Baltic,  I remember being there on a Sunday in the late eighties early nineties. Don’t think I’ve ever been colder!

We had a minibus from Bournemouth for the Bolton game. How we got home is still a miracle. Certainly the coldest game I've ever been to.
