It's Unai's second game in charge. It's Yanited away. He was always going to make changes to have a look at what he's got at his disposal. This is just the beginning. It's a poor game to watch but we are making it a scrappy game by design.

Playing shit on purpose seems like an odd strategy.

Being kind - defensively competent although Olsen worries me. Need to be more effective on the forward moves.

The American co-commentator I'm listening to is both fair and insightful.

There you go Unai, Ings and Watkins doesn't work. Hopefully he only needs a half to realise that, and not 20 games.

Schmeichel looks like Jeff Lebowski these days

Talking out of his arse there though, suggesting it's easy to just defend, as if we haven't come closest to scoring.

Either way I think what we've been doing makes sense but we need to be a bit more willing to run in behind and get Slabhead facing the wrong way, especially now he's on a booking.

That's not what I said. We are making it a frustrating game for them. Mourinho made a career out of it and has got a lot of trophies to show for it. Emery is just getting to know the players. I can't believe people on here are on his case already.

Some of our fringe players last chance to impress the new boss before the next transfer window. Hopefully Unai learnt in that 45 minutes what we already know and changes things for the second half.

We've played as I thought we would. Bit worried we'll just gift them a goal with a stupid pass though.

What on earth was Chambers doing it smashing it across our backline, were lucky to get away with that one. Luiz and Konsa were also giving it away at times holding on too long.

They really haven't offered much and we arguably have more options on the bench to change it so expecting Bailey and Buendia on at hour mark.

Perfect game plan by Emery so far.
Set up for a one off cup tieb away from home.
Very organised.
Don't think McGinn is up ti much apart from an awfuk foul condceding a free kick which could have been costly .
An anonymous liability who looks clueless!

Think majority of team look assured if a little pondering.
Young the pick of the players first half. Wonderful.

I'm no connoisseur of European football, but this is what Emery does away against better teams, isn't it?

Nobody's on his case, but it was a shit team selection, and we've played really badly.
