Let’s not overlook that Man U were the richest club in the world before Abramovich and Dubai rocked up and Real M did whatever dodgy deal. So it’s not like Ferguson was playing with a poor hand.

True, but his record at Aberdeen was also pretty amazing.

Going to stop being a Ferguson cheerleader now.

They weren't paupers before or after him either but the titles are still zero in the 20 years before and the decade since.

I'm not a fan of Guardiola, but he's not the mothership of everything I hate about football.

No, he just manager of it.

If Guardiola had gone to Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool they would be where Man City are now
That’s how good he is

Like Emery, whatever team he manages he would make better, but given teams with financial clout he makes the best

People moan about his football but it’s not dissimilar to Emery’s, possession based, highline, every player knowing exactly what his job is, obsessive workload, highly driven and of course OTT in demanding more
Not Bayern got that much better to be honest
I don't think thats true.  Because if Guardiola had gone to one of those, someone else would have gone to City.  And there is a reasonable chance they would be as dominant.  Its easier to achieve the success at Man City because of there alleged cheating, all there money and there setup.

The easiest way to win is to be the Man City manager.

Yeah, the way he interrupted the stranglehold of the Old Firm, as well as winning in Europe, might well have been his greatest achievement.

I watched the "back pages" thing on SSN last night and there was a Geordie journalist on there who, when asked about our achievement and specifically that of the manager, decided to speculate about Emery's future. He claimed that we needed to qualify to keep him at the club and that he couldn't understand why he's not been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Newton Heath. He also praised the murderers in charge at Newcastle for "nearly" appointing him.

What a fucking throbber.

Yes, I saw that ****** as well.

Ferguson only deserves respect for two things:

1. Visiting with his wife my father in hospital. Fergie had no choice but to discuss the Villa.

2. First game of the season when we got smashed at Newcastle. He could only talk about the positives he saw from the Villa team despite the result.

Aston Villa are thrilled to announce Manager Unai Emery has agreed a new five-year contract.

The Spaniard guided the Club to a fourth-place finish in the Premier League last season, securing Champions League football for the first time in our history.

Completely transforming the fortunes of the Club since his arrival in 2022, Unai steered the side from 17th in the table to 7th during his first campaign in charge, bringing European football back to Villa for the first time in 13 years.

Chairman Nassef Sawiris said: “We are building something special here at Aston Villa with Unai at its core and we are delighted that he has signed a new deal with the club until 2029.

“As we move into our historic, 150th anniversary year, there is a lot to look forward to with Unai at the helm.”

Unai said: “I am very happy to take this step and the responsibility of leading this club.

“Since I came to Villa with Wes and Nassef we found always the best environment and structure to develop a project with the highest ambition.

“All the football structure with Monchi and Damian and the owners, we share the same vision and same goals.

“There’s a great chemistry in Aston Villa. And the element of the fans’ support also makes the difference to feel like home. We are really excited to continue this journey with no limits to our dreams.”
