Reason 27489499393 why I love Unai Emery as told by SJM. Part of an Amazon Prime interview with Andy Townsend.

I wonder if Unai carried on when the player had to go to the bathroom or whether he made the group wait until the player came back.

Just catching up with this thread and reflecting on people pointing out the fatigue the players might be suffering, versus blaming Emery’s tactics. Heard on a pod last night that that our three worst games for losing possession this season are:

1. Manure
2. Brentford
3. Bournemouth.

That points to fatigue IMO.

Missing Luiz/Kamara combo for all three? We really could do with Ramsey hitting his best form, starting tomorrow. Would give us a real boost to see him combing well with Moreno again on the left and get McGinn back on the right.

Great to hear Andy say how good it feels to captain Villa.

I was sat very near Andy Townsend in a restaurant once.

I didn't speak to him, but overheard some bits and he was really lovely to the waiting staff, which is often a good test of a nice person.

Even though it wasn't a fancy place (hence me being there) and their table was only three people so the bill couldn't have been that much, he left a £100 tip.

Haha, I only know because he thought he was counting it discreetly under the table, but hadn't reckoned with my dedication to spying on him.

As soon as I saw him, I wrote 'THAT'S ANDY TOWNSEND!!!' with an arrow on a napkin and passed it to my girlfriend. She passed it back about 30 seconds later with the response 'OH MY GOD!... I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THAT IS!!!'

Met Townsend once away from football and he was lovely fella.

Complete aside but seeing his pre-match press conference, love how Emery always makes sure to mention Mings & Buendia.

They played this during their pre-match coverage of the Citeh game at Villa Park last month.

Well spotted, he’s mentioned them a few times.  Whether that is to show they’re part of the group or because he’s highlighting our injuries, it is good management.  He is a smart man.

Potentially will get better too as his English improves.

He's done it all season to make sure they don't feel forgotten about.

I want to know who hadn't had a shower and asked to go to the bathroom during the meeting.
