We're playing in the most competitive league in the world and the biggest cup competition for the first time in decades. We're going to come up against some very very good teams with good midfielders and attackers. Simple as that really if you think about it.

But we lost Torres before Kamara was back up to speed. They have only played a handful of games together this season.
Without doubt the injuries have impacted us.
But I keep seeing midfielders and defenders running through our midfield andpast our defence with relative ease.
It’s not dissimilar to the Smith PL set up.

Our vulnerability is mainly from turnovers with players being caught out of position. I see that being as a result of injuries to key players who bring a level of control to the way we play. Kamara, Barkley and Onana all being unavailable at the same time puts additional strain on those who are fit. Similarly defensive injuries have meant we’ve been forced to mix and match. Hopefully the reduced schedule in March will give us a chance to get a few more players back.

All that said we’re still within touching distance of the top 5, in an FA Cup quarter final and have a great chance of doing the same in the Champions League. As crises go we’ve had worse.

With the options we have with the front 4 I'd have no problem with a more defense-minded right back for some games - having Teilemans alongside Kamara, linking the play, then the front 4 running riot.

Possibly because Crowe was a very good manager who was doing a very good job until he was starved of funds by the Board.
That's how I remember it too. Vic was a very popular manager and turned things round for us. Fortunately, Saunders turned out to be superb.

Grim times. McLeish was apppointed when I was 22 (though I consider Houllier to be the first in that succession of dreadful managers) and we weren't promoted until I was 30.

My best years, robbed!

Cheer up Rory, your best years are still to come.

But then John McGinn doesn't play, and he's been our best player last few games.

Great problem to have mind.

Still waiting for us to look like we have some controll defensively.
It was a great result last night but we got away with it as we were opened up several times.
Our offensive players do not help enough, Rogers Bailey Ramsey are all poor without the ball.

We just have a tendency to concede soft and sloppy goals and I think it's been a problem since last season.  We've got away with it in a lot of games, but it has come back to bite us in others.  I find it hard to put my finger on where the problem lies really.

Waste of time. They just need to roll their sleeves up. run faster and tackle harder.

Don’t look at the Manager’s eye, look in them.

I wonder if he ever reminds them that this part of the season is the 'tickly bit'.

The question is with our players getting fit can we turn our form around enough over the last few games.

With Newcastle losing two defenders through injury, ManCity the same, Forest becoming inconsistent and Chelsea being Chelsea, there's hope of top 5.

The Unai Emerys Claret and Blue Army ringing out incessantly is a joy .
it’s non stop like it’s piped in or in a loop !
it’s a joy to hear!

A great chant and despite my love for Deano is such a better fit!

I know we can’t have the PSG thread up yet but it’s all so exciting.
I bet Emery is relishing the opportunity for a quarter final against them!

Imagine Arsenal then on Semi Final.

That would be fitting for Unai

The great man would only then say if we reached the final we are contender

Imagine if it was a final against Bayern Munich in Germany .

UTV!!
My word . it’s bordering on this being put in Villa dreams and superstitions!
