"I would like to remark on this hard moment your RESPECT and UNDERSTANDING. This feeling of belonging, unbelievable positivity that, alongside our fans, we don't win together, we fall together. We rise again together. This, for me, is LOYALTY at its best." Unai's programme notes.

Quote from: ozzjim on December 04, 2024, 07:12:14 AMI think he's been found out tactically, while also having a number of players out of form. I also think losing Kamara and Luiz as a pair, Ramsey to successive long term injuries and the huge chasm in quality between first 11 and bench when form dipped has hurt him. He openly said he wanted a technical forward that could play in the 10 role in the summer, and had based the summer before on Buendia kicking on in that role. Given the context his record is okz when put against our spend. He needs time, and some good support from Monchi (who is more questionable than Emery) to get 2-3 players in that will help make a difference. I actually think defensively we are capable, but we are far too inconsistent (Carlos and Torres has stinkers in them), Cash personifies it. Do I think I want Emery or a different manager in charge this time next year... I'll take some time being inconsistent, even not good, as I reckon long term he'll win something and find a way to get us back up there. For those that know more about his history than me, I know he's played this formation and style for the latter part of his Villareal days, but has he always played this way, I take it their have been other styles in the past?I'd say these tactics look to have been nullified, but if he hasn't got other ones, I'd trust him to come up with them. And also, I'm not sure how devoted to Luiz he was, he was the one sacrificed but there were plenty of other saleable assets if he was the one the team depended on? Certainly agree Kamara was a massive miss to the way we play.

Quote from: VillaTim on December 04, 2024, 01:46:17 PMKonsa has gone off the boil ever since his England call ups. Far too casual for me and a bit too arrogant at timesGetting moved from full back to centre back isn't helping. Far too much getting through the midfield screen too obviously.

Him and Pau has never been a strong partnership - neither of them is good enough in the air, neither of them is an organiser or leader. As I’ve been saying forever, Konsa needs Mings, Pau needs a right-sided Mings equivalent. In the absence of one of those in central defence, we need to play with three centre-backs on the pitch - hence Konsa on the right - against the top teams. The Cash/Konsa/Pau combo has proved adequate against the flotsam and jetsam.

Playing Cash exposes Konsa and Pau, most the time Carlos with Konsa at RB is ok but you are never quite sure with what you are getting with Carlos.A better RB than Cash would help enormously.
Carlos, regardless of how the defence generally looks when he's in it with Konsa at RB, does have that added random clanger factor.
