Humble pie . Dendoncker , playing in his proper position , has been very good .

In just 45 minutes proof positive that Gerrard is the Liz Truss of football management.

Decent enough performance although we never really got going for the 1st minute or so.

He only needed 1 day’s training.
Great half of free flowing football! What’s that our previous manager asks?
Come on Villa boys! Same again 2nd half.

Handbrake off totally - the attacking players actually look good, even Watkins.
Dendoncker gives Luiz that extra freedom, it all makes sense.

More movement, faster tempo, defending higher up and more aggressively. Nothing passive so far. Better basics.

Easy, innit?

No goals in half an hour.

Has Danks lost the squad?

I remember under the stewardship of Sir Graham, watching highlights of Villa vs Everton many years ago when we led 3-0 at HT. We went on to win 6-2 that day. He said something to the effect of fans expect us to score 4,5 or 6. Which of course we did. But right now I would take a clean sheet and a stress free 2nd half. Would be ace to rack it up against these pricks who we never seem to beat but I’d like my Sunday morning to be nice and easy for the next 45.

Great first half
I wasn’t impressed with the lineup but they’re proving me wrong and doing the job

However this is all about Gerrard, They simply weren’t playing for him and now he’s gone they are totally up for it i’m doing what we know they are capable of

I thought this kicked off at 3, been running errands and just seen all my phone notifications for the goals.  Absolutely bonkers! Anyone got any suggestions for a water trickle?

Managed to get a puddle. Not sure how to send a dcm without receiving one. Do me and I’ll message back 😊

I don't think it was just Gerrard's selections and tactics that were the problem.

That team wasn't playing for him.
