I hope you’re right Drummond. Sometimes it just takes one good result to ignite a season. I hope this is it.

Yep, or save a job. He needs a great performance and resounding win to shush the miserabilists like me. I really hope that I'm proven wrong and he becomes one of our more successful managers, starting with a 0-4 result.

I'd also like Watkins to score a brace with some excellent finishing, Coutinho and Buendia to get assists, McGinn to score and get an assist and for Danny Ings to get a late goal in a cameo appearance.

as we seem able to create something.

This is the positive I took from the Leeds game, the lack of goals was down to finishing and not chances. In the past we would not have even created anything.

I read this as a rare burst of optimism for a moment, then I realised you were talking about travelling from Dorset.

I want that as much as any Villa fan. I don’t want to see us play shit and I don’t want to see us lose. I’ve said from the start I want every Villa manager to be successful. I want them all to prove us wrong when things take an unfortunate turn and the pressure builds. I hope tonight we play flowing football and score 3 or 4 in a convincing win vs a team at the bottom of the table. But chances are we will keep it tight, grind it out, create 2 or 3 reasonable chances and hope we score 1 of them. We will sit mid table and he will claim we are on the right track when in reality it will all be smoking mirrors. The tactic of keeping it tight and keeping the opponent to nil work vs Leeds or Southampton or Forest. But it won’t against 75% of the league and that’s why this approach cannot be sustained. Plus it will kill us all watching it.

Both teams could do with our Keinan for this. Watford are stinking out the Ch'ship, come on home, son.

Both. If anyone thinks Keinan Davis is a PL calibre forward to drag a side to a more fertile land then they need a little break from things and a cold drink.

He couldn't do any worse than what we have already.

Looking like a(nother?) must win game for Gerrard.  We could be looking at 8 points from 10 games by next Sunday afternoon .....

Good! I'm off to see "I Love My Dad" at the London Film Festival tonight. I'll have a beer and forget about what's happening at the City Ground.
