Injury watch
« on: September 22, 2022, 09:55:06 AM »
Can anyone update us on the current injury status for the squad? I don't see a lot of information coming out of the club about this lately.

Here is the Villa code to injury news
Picked up a Knock in training- out for a month
Nothing too serious- 3 months
Out for 3 weeks- times by 10
Could be serious - don’t expect to ever see him play again.
Serious injury- call the undertaker

I thought Digne had a stress fracture of the ankle?  I don't know how much more assessing that needs?  I'd guess Christmas.

Kamara will have had his scans so surely they know what it is?  I'd guess next summer.  With him and Carlos it will be like two new signings next season!

Next summer?!! Bloody hell, I hope that is overly pessimistic.

I think all of those are a bit pessimistic.

Carlos is already doing strengthening work (pics on twitter) with the boot on. I suspect that will be off within a couple of weeks and we'll start seeing him doing minimal impact work (cycling for example) before the world cup. If there are no complications you'd move to running within a month and increase load on that for 4-6 weeks. That would mean he'd be back on the training ground in January. I'd go with late-Feb/early-March he'll be around the squad unless he has a set back.

Kamara is too early to know as it's not even completely clear what happened but watching how it happened and the fact that he played on and walked off I suspect it's a torn meniscus. If so that'll be 6-8 weeks and back playing after the world cup, maybe even making a game or 2 before it.

Cash sounds like he was 50/50 for joining Poland so might miss 1-2 more games but should be back early October.

Digne is a stress fracture in his ankle and is a pretty well established 6-8 week one so, like Kamara he'll be back after the world cup, but might be available for a game or 2 before that.

I get the feeling with Kamara that if it were anything picked up easily on an MRI like a meniscus or MCL/ACL, we would already know about it.  Maybe or hopefully, it's just a sprain.

The official Twitter pissed me off with the "get well soon" message to Kamara. Much better to say nowt until it's known what's up.

I know, it just felt like a decent post to reply to with my thoughts on it. I took it seriously until I got to Cash.
